Current status and future perspectives of platelet function‐guided precision antiplatelet therapy for patients with cerebral infarction

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
Antiplatelet agents target the cyclooxygenase‐1 (COX‐1)/thromboxane A2 (TXA2) and adenosine diphosphate (ADP)‐P2Y12 (cytochrome P450 2C19 [CYP2C19]‐metabolized) platelet activation pathways, resulting in either drug resistance or over‐inhibition. The individualized therapeutic window balances ischemic risk (triggered by high on‐treatment platelet ...

PFOA Exposure Elicits Quantitative Lipidomic Changes in the Pancreas in a Mouse Model of Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the US and predicted to rise to second by 2030. Several risk factors have been identified as potential contributors to pancreatic cancer development including lifestyle factors and long‐term exposure to occupational and environmental carcinogens.

Effects of a trans isomer of arachidonic acid on rat platelet aggregation and eicosanoid production

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1996
The addition of a trans isomer of arachidonic acid (20:4 delta 14trans) to rat platelet suspensions inhibited the aggregation induced by 7.5 microM of arachidonic acid. This inhibitory effect of 20:4 delta 14trans was significant at concentrations of 7.5-

Radioimmunoassay for plasma thromboxane B2.

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 1981
Abstract Platelet activity may play a major role in the acute phase of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. To assess such activity, an assay for plasma thromboxane B2, a prostaglandin metabolite unique to platelets, is needed. The radioimmunoassay described here is based on a nonequilibrium incubation followed by a solid-phase second-

Dietary melatonin and its benefits on cardiovascular disease

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of mortality globally, with a disproportionate burden in low‐ and middle‐income countries. Melatonin, a hormone primarily produced by the pineal gland, exhibits notable antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties that may confer cardiovascular benefits.

How I Investigate Bleeding Disorders of Unknown Cause: Current Diagnostic Pathways and Gaps in Laboratory Investigation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bleeding disorder of unknown cause (BDUC) constitutes the largest group of patients presenting with a mild‐to‐moderate bleeding tendency in tertiary care settings. Their clinical bleeding phenotype is characterized by mucocutaneous bleeding, as well as bleeding following surgical challenges or childbirth, and is associated with impaired health‐

Inflammatory and Immunological Basis of Periodontal Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The periodontal lesion emerges as an evolving immunological battlefield, where host–microbiome interactions, dysregulated immune responses, fragile resolution mechanisms, and inflammophilic dysbiosis converge to shift the balance from homeostasis to unrestrained tissue destruction.
