Impingement and Through Air Drying of Paper

open access: yesDrying Technology, 1995
ABSTRACT Air drying of paper by pure impingement, pure through flow and by combination of impingement and through flow was studied. For the combined process the inlet and bath outlet air flow rates were held constant throughout drying, thereby providing resulls appropriate for analysis of the complex and interacting kinetics.

Enhancing Hot Air Drying Efficiency through Electrostatic Field–Ultrasonic Coupling Pretreatment

open access: yesFoods, 2023
The drying of compact and biologically active materials presents significant challenges. In this study, we propose using electrostatic field–ultrasonic coupling pretreatment to enhance the drying efficiency of ginkgo fruits. We designed and constructed an experimental device to investigate the effects of ultrasonic power, pretreatment time, hot air ...

A model for through-drying of tissue paper at constant pressure drop and high drying intensity

open access: yes, 2007
A mathematical model for through drying of paper at constant pressure drop was developed. The model is based on physical properties; hence, basis weight, pressure drop, drying air temperature, pore size distribution, initial gas fraction, and tortuosity ...

Study on low-temperature drying characteristics of premodified sludge with calcium oxide and sawdust

open access: yesGongye shui chuli
Heat pump drying is a low-carbon and energy-saving sludge drying method. The operating temperature of heat pump is generally no more than 70 ℃. In order to improve the drying rate of sludge at low-temperature, the effects of air parameters and additives ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Drying, a practical technology for reduction of poultry litter (environmental) pollution: methods and their effects on important parameters

open access: yesPoultry Science
: Poultry farming generates significant poultry litter (broiler litter and laying hen manure), posing environmental and human health risks. Heat treatment, particularly through drying, can mitigate these adverse effects.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Air drying optimization of Saccharomyces cerevisiae through its water-glycerol dehydration properties [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Microbiology, 2005
This study describes the different stages of optimization in an original drying process for yeasts, which allows the retrieval of dried samples of Saccharomyces cerevisiae CBS 1171 with maximum viability. The process involves the addition of wheat flour to yeast pellets, followed by mixing and then air-drying in a fluidized bed dryer. The sensitivity to
