Staphylococcus epidermidis is an environmental opportunistic pathogen associated with bovine intramammary infections. In bacterial infections, the endothelial tissue plays an important role during inflammation and it is the target of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha).
