Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Determinants of innate immune responses to mycobacteria

open access: yes, 2012
Includes bibliographical references.Innate cells such as macrophages, monocytes, myeloid dendritic cells and granulocytes recognise mycobacteria and initiate immune responses such as phagocytosis, cytokine production and expression of maturation markers.

Tumor‐Induced Splenic Remodeling: Mechanisms of Systemic Immunosuppression and Emerging Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite the transformative impact of cancer immunotherapies such as immune checkpoint blockade, durable clinical responses remain limited. Increasing evidence indicates that antitumor immunity is governed not only by the tumor microenvironment, but also by systemic immune regulation mediated by peripheral immune organs. Among these, the spleen

Effects of Lycium barbarum polysaccharides supplemented to high soybean meal diet on immunity and hepatic health of spotted sea bass Lateolabrax maculatus

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
High soybean meal diet (HSBMD) decreased the immunity and damaged the liver health of spotted sea bass; in this study, Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBP) was added to HSBMD to explore its effects on the immunity and liver health.

Lactation is Associated with Accelerated Postpartum Pelvic Floor Muscle Recovery in a Pregnant Simulated Birth Injury Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Healthy pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) are essential for proper pelvic floor function. The biggest risk factor for PFM dysfunction is injury sustained during vaginal childbirth, yet the factors that facilitate or impair PFM recovery from birth injury remain unknown.

Toll-like Rezeptor-vermittelte Regulation der Leukotrien-Biosynthese in menschlichen Monozyten

open access: yes, 2010
Leukotrienes (LTs) are pro-inflammatory lipid mediators that belong to the group of eicosanoids, which are oxygenated metabolites of one common precursor, the aracidonic acid (AA).

Engineering Oncolytic Virus‐Armed Macrophages for Enhanced Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZIFOA‐M is engineered by conjugating oncolytic adenovirus‐loaded ZIF‐8 nanoparticles onto macrophage surfaces via bioorthogonal chemistry. Upon tumor infiltration, the platform releases OA to downregulate CD47/CD24 on tumor cells, restoring macrophage phagocytosis.

Development of a Human 3D Immune‐Competent Neurovascular Model Enabling Time‐Resolved Monitoring of Neuroinflammatory Dynamics and Neuroimmune Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neuroinflammation alters blood–brain barrier integrity and contributes to neurological disorders, yet existing models lack human immune complexity. This study presents a 3D, immune‐responsive platform that reconstructs key neurovascular components and enables real‐time monitoring.
