One special question to start with: can HIF/NFkB be a target in inflammation? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Hypoxia and Inflammation are strictly interconnected with important consequences at clinical and therapeutic level. While cell and tissue damage due to acute hypoxia mostly leads to cell necrosis, in chronic hypoxia, cells that are located closer to ...

Toll-Like Receptors, Their Ligands, and Atherosclerosis

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2011
Atherosclerosis is a disease characterized by inflammation in the arterial wall. Atherogenesis is dependent on the innate immune response involving activation of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and the expression of inflammatory proteins.

Unlocking NIR‐II Photoluminescence in 2D Copper Tetrasilicate Nanosheets through Flame Spray Synthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A flame‐spray‐pyrolysis method is presented to synthesize ultra‐bright CTS nanosheets with tunable NIR‐II emission. Achieving quantum yields up to 34%, these materials support high‐speed imaging and enable super‐resolution in vivo applications such as transcranial microcirculation mapping and macrophage tracking.

CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF Toll2, Toll4, CD14, AND HLA-DR EXPRESSION ON THE MONOCYTES IN PATIENTS WITH SEPSIS

open access: yesМедицинская иммунология, 2015
Expression of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) on myeloid cells is of key importance for induction of systemic reactions caused by bacterial damage, and activation mechanisms of innate immune response. The study included thirty-six patients with sepsis in whom

Rational Development of a Novel Emulgel Adjuvant for Single‐Shot Effective Vaccination: A Multivariate Analysis Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Using multivariate analysis, a novel emulgel adjuvant is developed by combining key nanoemulsion formulation variables–hydrogel trapping, small globule size, and mannide monooleate surfactant–achieving 10× greater immunogenicity than MF59 in mice after a single shot.

Biomimetic Cell Membrane‐Coated Scaffolds for Enhanced Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines the development and use of cell membrane‐coated scaffolds in tissue engineering. Bioinspired phospholipid and glycocalyx coatings enhance anti‐fouling, anti‐thrombogenic, and selective molecular recognition properties. Native cell membrane coatings further support cell‐specific interactions, immune modulation, and reduced bacterial

Short single-stranded DNA degradation products augment the activation of Toll-like receptor 9

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
DNA degradation products are frequently found in the endosome, but how they regulate the activation of Toll-like receptors is not known. Here the authors show that single-stranded DNA as short as two nucleotides can enhance the ability of longer DNA ...
