The complete genome sequence of Melia azedarach Linn. (Meliaceae): a multi-purpose pesticide species
The plant genus Melia has two or four species in the modern world, and is a natural source of a traditional pesticide, Toosendanin. In this study, we report the complete chloroplast genome of Melia azedarach, assembled from whole-genome high-throughput ...

No toxicity symptoms were observed in Sprague‐Dawley rats for both sexes after 28 days oral administration with fermented jackfruit pulp and leaves. There were significant differences (p < .05) of lower body weight gained observed in the treated rat groups as opposed to control group, indicating the potential anti‐obesity effect of fermented jackfruit ...

Three lignans (1–3) and three butanolides (4–6) were isolated from the lipophilic extract of the Cinnamomum camphora stem bark. The six compounds were identified as (‐)‐sesamin (1), 9α‐hydroxysesamin (2), 9β‐hydroxysesamin (3), obtusilactone A (4), isoobtusilactone A (IOA, 5), and isomahubanolide (6) from their spectroscopic data.

Toosendanin inhibits adipogenesis by activating Wnt/β-catenin signaling
AbstractToosendanin (TSN), a triterpenoid extracted from Melia toosendan, has been reported to possess anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and anti-arthritic activities. However, its anti-adipogenic effect remains unknown. Here, we found that TSN dose-dependently attenuated lipid accumulation in preadipocytes 3T3-L1 as evidenced by Oil Red ...

Furan-site transformations of obacunone as potent insecticidal agents
Furan ring is a key pharmacophore for insecticidal activity of limoninoids. To develop natural-product-based insecticidal agents, a series of furan-site transformations (2, 3 and 3a–j) of obacunone were synthesized by selective bromination and following ...

Toosendanin Inhibits Colorectal Cancer Cell Growth Through the Hedgehog Pathway by Targeting SHH
Abstract Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common gastrointestinal cancers worldwide. It is complex and often fatal and is associated with a high disease-related mortality. The Hedgehog (Hh) signalling pathway plays indispensable roles in CRC. Many studies have proven that Shh is overexpressed in cancer stem cells (CSCs) and shown that

Podophyllotoxin Derivatives Show Activity against Larvae
In an attempt to find biorational insecticides, eleven podophyllotoxin analogues were tested for their insecticidal activity against the fifth-instar larvae of Brontispa longissima in vivo for the first time.
