Removal of Osteoclast Bone Resorption Products by Transcytosis
Science, 1997Osteoclasts are multinucleated cells responsible for bone resorption. During the resorption cycle, osteoclasts undergo dramatic changes in their polarity, and resorbing cells reveal four functionally and structurally different membrane domains. Bone degradation products, both organic and inorganic, were endocytosed from the ruffled border membrane ...

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Transcytosis and Secretion
2017Protective levels of Alpha-1 antitrypsin (A1AT) are achieved in the lung through the uptake of the pulmonary vasculature of hepatocyte-secreted A1AT. The anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and anti-protease properties of A1AT are critical toward maintaining the function of pulmonary endothelial and epithelial cells and for the structural integrity of ...

[Transcytosis of immunoglobulin IgG].
Kaibogaku zasshi. Journal of anatomy, 1999Recent studies on cellular mechanism of transmission of maternal IgG are briefly reviewed. The mechanism has been studied in rodent intestine and yolk sac, where the role of neonate Fc receptors (FcRn) in the transcellular transport of IgG is now well understood. FcRn binds IgG on the cell surface (intestine) or in endosomes (yolk sac) at around pH 6.0.
