Carbon Nanotube Membranes for use in the Transdermal Treatment of Nicotine Addiction and Opioid Withdrawal Symptoms

open access: yesSubstance Abuse: Research and Treatment, 2009
Transdermal systems are attractive methods of drug administration specifically when treating patients for drug addiction. Current systems however are deficient in therapies that allow variable flux values of drug, such as nicotine for smoking cessation ...

“Intrapericardial Approach” for Venous Outflow Reconstruction in Living‐Donor Liver Transplantation for Budd‐Chiari Syndrome: Surgical Techniques and LongTerm Outcomes

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Unlike deceased‐donor liver transplantation, living‐donor liver transplantation (LDLT) for Budd‐Chiari Syndrome (BCS) presents distinctive challenges in hepatic venous (HV)‐outflow reconstruction because diseased HV–inferior vena cava (IVC) cannot be entirely replaced with healthy donor vessels.

Short‐Term Outcomes and Cost Drivers of Emergency Surgery for Acute Abdominal Disease in Super‐Elderly Patients: A Study in the Japanese Tertiary Care Hospital

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This retrospective study analyzed patients aged ≥ 85 years undergoing emergency abdominal surgery, focusing on short‐term outcomes and inpatient cost structure under the Japanese DPC system. Although major complications occurred in 19.4% of patients, more than 70% were discharged home.

Deep Learning Prediction of Surface Roughness in Multi‐Stage Microneedle Fabrication: A Long Short‐Term Memory‐Recurrent Neural Network Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A sequential deep learning framework is developed to model surface roughness progression in multi‐stage microneedle fabrication. Using real‐world experimental data from 3D printing, molding, and casting stages, an long short‐term memory‐based recurrent neural network captures the cumulative influence of geometric parameters and intermediate outputs ...
