Education is Translation: A Translation Report

open access: yesJournal of Educational Research and Policies
The book Education is Translation: A Metaphor for Change in Learning and Teaching redefines the connotations of teaching and learning from an interdisciplinary perspective, regarding education as a dynamic “translation” process. An English-Chinese translation project of it was conducted to help Chinese readers to gain valuable insights for educational ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Constructive Alignment in Translator Education: Reconsidering Assessment for Both Industry and Academy

open access: yesTranslation and Interpreting : the International Journal of Translation and Interpreting Research, 2013
This article follows Toury’s example, when he turned the lack of consensus on a definition of translation into his definition or theory of translation, by theorizing the lack of agreement on how to assess translations in translator education.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

The Perceived Impact of Using Student-Generated Case Studies in Translator Education on Translation of Culture-Specific Items

open access: yesVan Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi Dergisi
The present study addressed two questions concerning (1) pre-professional translators’ perceptions of student-generated case studies’ (SGCs) impact on translating Culture-Specific Items (CSIs) and (2) specific aspects of SGCs that impact these ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Non-Formal Aspects in Academic Translator Education. Selected Ideas for Research and Practical Application

open access: yesStyles of Communication, 2012
A number of researchers in the field of education theory promote the view that education is based primarily on the student(s) – teacher interaction, rather than being dependent on the teacher’s realization of educational procedures that expand the ...
