Ac (Activator) is the first autonomous transposon described by McClintock. Its ability to create DSBs (Double Strand Breaks) makes it a powerful mutagen. In the presence of the Ac transposase, its non-autonomous Ds (Dissociation) counterparts are just as mutagenic.
