Lactation is Associated with Accelerated Postpartum Pelvic Floor Muscle Recovery in a Pregnant Simulated Birth Injury Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Healthy pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) are essential for proper pelvic floor function. The biggest risk factor for PFM dysfunction is injury sustained during vaginal childbirth, yet the factors that facilitate or impair PFM recovery from birth injury remain unknown.

The role of IgE in Crohn's disease by impairing the capacity of plasmacytoid dendritic cells to generate FOXP3+ Tregs

open access: yes
Background: A causal relationship between Crohn's disease (CD) and asthma is reported, but the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. We sought to investigate the role of IgE and IgE-mediated pathways in the pathophysiology of CD.Methods: 20 CD ...

Superior Suppressive Capacity of Skin Tregs Compared with Lung Tregs in a Model of Epicutaneous Priming

open access: yes, 2015
We have previously shown that T helper type 2 (Th2)-polarized airway inflammation can facilitate priming to new antigens in the lungs, which we called “collateral priming”.

Photodynamic Priming and Minocycline Overcome Chemoresistance by Reprogramming the Pancreatic Tumor Immune Microenvironment In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Dual priming with minocycline and photodynamic priming reprograms the pancreatic tumor microenvironment to overcome chemoresistance. By suppressing DNA repair enzyme Tdp1, inducing photooxidative damage, and enhancing irinotecan delivery via light‐activated nanoencapsulation, this strategy remodels the tumor microenvironment and drives immune ...

Reprogramming Antitumor Immunity: NK Cell Strategies to Navigate the Immunosuppressive Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tumor immune escape is a major barrier to durable cancer immunotherapy, as advanced malignancies create a tumor microenvironment (TME) that preferentially exhausts and disables T cell responses. While most approved cell therapies are T cell‐based, this limitation motivates the exploration of an alternative effector cell platform.

Eos plays a critical role in Treg homeostasis and modulates the function of recirculating thymic Tregs in the control of Treg development

open access: yesCell Reports
Eos, a member of the Ikaros family of transcription factors, is expressed by T regulatory cells (Tregs) and has been postulated to play a role in Treg suppression and maintenance of Treg stability. We demonstrate that expression of Eos was limited to a subpopulation of thymus-derived, activated Tregs and is undetectable in resting or activated T ...

Engineering Oncolytic Virus‐Armed Macrophages for Enhanced Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZIFOA‐M is engineered by conjugating oncolytic adenovirus‐loaded ZIF‐8 nanoparticles onto macrophage surfaces via bioorthogonal chemistry. Upon tumor infiltration, the platform releases OA to downregulate CD47/CD24 on tumor cells, restoring macrophage phagocytosis.

Tregs, the key to new treatment for systemic lupus erythematosus

open access: yes, 2009
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an auto-immune disorder that affects connective tissue. It is caused by a break in self tolerance which is caused by hyperactive autoreactive T- and B cells.

CD44‐Targeting Hydroxyapatite Nanoparticles (HAP) Induce Mitochondrial Dysfunction‐Driven PANoptosis and Immunogenic Cell Death (ICD) via Ca Overload in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains therapeutically challenging due to high metastasis, recurrence, and immunotherapy resistance driven by tumor microenvironment‐mediated immune evasion. Immunogenic cell death (ICD) offers a promising strategy to reshape the immune microenvironment, yet existing ICD inducers suffer from poor targeting efficiency ...
