Manifestation of Chaos in Real Complex Systems: Case of Parkinson's Disease

open access: yes, 2006
In this chapter we present a new approach to the study of manifestations of chaos in real complex system. Recently we have achieved the following result. In real complex systems the informational measure of chaotic chatacter (IMC) can serve as a reliable

Wearable Sensors for Estimation of Parkinsonian Tremor Severity during Free Body Movements

open access: yesItalian National Conference on Sensors, 2019
Tremor is one of the main symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) that reduces the quality of life. Tremor is measured as part of the Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) part III.

AI‐Assisted Self‐Powered Wearable Dual‐Mode Sensor With TENG and Stretchable Optical Fiber for Neurological Disorder Diagnostics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This manuscript presents the WDMS platform, an AI‐assisted, self‐powered wearable dual‐mode sensor for tele‐neurology. It integrates a contact–separation TENG insole with stretchable polyurethane optical‐fiber strain sensors to synchronously track plantar pressure and lower‐limb muscle deformation.

Multiparametric Bioresorbable Sensor for Doxorubicin Detection via Molecularly Imprinted Synthetic Receptors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A biodegradable molecularly imprinted polymer porous silica sensor enables dual optical readout of doxorubicin via fluorescence and effective optical thickness shifts. The combined transduction mechanisms provide enhanced reliability and quantitative accuracy over clinically relevant concentrations, representing a step toward transient implantable ...

Remote Magnetomechanical Neuromodulation Uncovers Therapeutic Mechanisms for Alleviating Parkinsonian Symptoms in Freely Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

Added value of a wrist-worn device for assessing tremor in Parkinson’s disease: reliability and validity of tremor evaluation at home

open access: yesnpj Parkinson's Disease
Clinical assessment and self-report of tremor in Parkinson’s disease (PD) have several limitations, including recall bias and lack of sensitivity. Wearable-based technology offers an opportunity to address these shortcomings.

Differential Diagnosis of Tremor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The most common tremor in primary care is an exaggerated physiologic tremor, followed by essential tremor and tremors caused by Parkinson's disease. (Strength of Recommendation [SOR]: C, based on extrapolation from a prospective cohort study of patients ...
