Allergic Sensitization to Inhalant Allergens in the Upper Respiratory Tract—the B Cell Side
ABSTRACT Allergic diseases are on the rise worldwide, driven by respiratory epithelial barrier dysfunction that promotes sensitization to inhalant allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, and fungal spores. These antigens trigger IgE‐mediated immune responses that lead to diseases such as allergic rhinitis (AR) and asthma.

Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic Th2 and food antigen-mediated disease characterized by esophageal eosinophilic infiltration. Thymic stromal lymphopoetin (TSLP), an epithelial derived cytokine which bridges innate and Th2-type adaptive immune ...

Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin Interferes with the Apoptosis of Human Skin Mast Cells by a Dual Strategy Involving STAT5/Mcl-1 and JNK/Bcl-xL [PDF]
Mast cells (MCs) play critical roles in allergic and inflammatory reactions and contribute to multiple pathologies in the skin, in which they show increased numbers, which frequently correlates with severity. It remains ill-defined how MC accumulation is

We exposed human nasal epithelial tissues to pollen from grasses grown under different climate treatments (temperature and CO2). Pollen weakened epithelial tight junctions and altered cytokine‐related gene expression, with similar protein‐level effects.

Applying the adverse outcome pathway (AOP) for food sensitization to support in vitro testing strategies [PDF]
Background Before introducing proteins from new or alternative dietary sources into the market, a compressive risk assessment including food allergic sensitization should be carried out in order to ensure their safety.

Successful Application of the Mast Cell Activation Test in Immediate Hypersensitivity to Amoxicillin
This study included 28 amoxicillin‐allergic patients and 11 healthy exposed controls. Mast cells were differentiated from CD34+ progenitors over 8 weeks using cytokine cocktails. The mast cell activation test involved sensitization with patient or control sera and stimulation with free amoxicillin or G4/G5‐AXO dendrimers with successfully activated ...

Oxazolone exposure drives rapid basophil recruitment to wounded skin, accelerating re‐epithelialization, angiogenesis, and tissue regeneration. Basophils are the dominant early source of IL‐4 and IL‐13 in the wound microenvironment. Basophil‐derived IL‐4/IL‐13 promote macrophage polarization toward a pro‐repair M2 phenotype, enabling efficient wound ...

Chinese Position Paper on Biologic Therapy for Allergic Rhinitis
ABSTRACT Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a common, persistent nasal disorder that poses significant public health challenges worldwide. Current treatment options frequently fail to achieve adequate symptom control in a substantial subset of patients. Over the past two decades, biologic therapies that target type 2 inflammatory pathways have been used to ...
