Using Capsule Neural Network to predict Tuberculosis in lens-free microscopic images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Tuberculosis, caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is one of the most serious public health problems worldwide. This work seeks to facilitate and automate the prediction of tuberculosis by the MODS method and using lens-free microscopy, which is easy to use by untrained personnel.

Estimation of underreporting in Brazilian tuberculosis data, 2012-2014 [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Analysis of burden of underregistration in tuberculosis data in Brazil, from 2012 to 2014. Approches of Oliveira et al. (2020) and Stoner et al. (2019) are applied. The main focus is to illustrated how the approach of Oliveira et al. (2020) can be applied when the clustering structure is not previously available.

Empowering Tuberculosis Screening with Explainable Self-Supervised Deep Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yes2024 International Conference on Machine Learning and Applications (ICMLA), Miami, FL, USA, 2024, pp. 794-797
Tuberculosis persists as a global health crisis, especially in resource-limited populations and remote regions, with more than 10 million individuals newly infected annually. It stands as a stark symbol of inequity in public health. Tuberculosis impacts roughly a quarter of the global populace, with the majority of cases concentrated in eight countries,

Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in children and response to therapy

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil University, 2015
There is very little information available on drug-resistant (DR) tuberculosis (TB) in children in Indian scenario and especially their response to therapy. We present a series of children who were suffering from multidrug-resistant-TB and their response

Design of an Efficient, Ease-of-use and Affordable Artificial Intelligence based Nucleic Acid Amplification Diagnosis Technology for Tuberculosis and Multi-drug Resistant Tuberculosis [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Current technologies that facilitate diagnosis for simultaneous detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and its resistance to first-line anti-tuberculosis drugs (Isoniazid and Rifampicim) are designed for lab-based settings and are unaffordable for large scale testing implementations.

Promising Prodiginins Biological Activities

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Prodiginins are a large family of at least 34 pyrrolic compounds, including the well‐studied red pigment prodigiosin. Prodiginins are produced by several microorganisms displaying broad biological activities, including antimicrobial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antiproliferative, and immunosuppressive activities.
