In sepsis‐induced liver injury, marked neutrophil infiltration correlates with disease severity. Neutrophil SLC11A1 drives intracellular Fe2+ and ROS via the Fenton reaction, promoting NETs formation. Hepatocyte‐derived CXCL10 recruits neutrophils and activates the JAK/STAT1/SLC11A1 axis, enhancing NETs‐mediated inflammation.

This study unveils a novel antibacterial mechanism against MRSA, in which the compound Py‐27 selectively targets and inhibits aspartate transcarbamoylase (ATCase), a key enzyme in pyrimidine synthesis. This inhibition disrupts DNA replication, induces oxidative damage, leading to potent bactericidal activity.

Mycobacteria Other than Tuberculosis Producing Disease in a Tertiary Referral Hospital
Over the period of 1987 to 1989, three hundred and two isolates of ten species of mycobacteria other than tuberculosis (MOTT) produced disease in 282 patients. M. avium intracellulare was the most common (53% patients), followed by M. gordonae and M. fortuitum-chelonae (20%).
