A naturally occurring variant of endothelial lipase associated with elevated HDL exhibits impaired synthesis[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2009
Human endothelial lipase (EL) is a member of a family of lipases and phospholipases that are involved in the metabolism of plasma lipoproteins. EL displays a preference to hydrolyze lipids in HDL.

Mapping Complex Networks: Exploring Boolean Modeling of Signal Transduction Pathways [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
In this study, we explored the utility of a descriptive and predictive bionetwork model for phospholipase C-coupled calcium signaling pathways, built with non-kinetic experimental information. Boolean models generated from these data yield oscillatory activity patterns for both the endoplasmic reticulum resident inositol-1,4,5-trisphosphate receptor ...

Biochemistry and toxicology of proteins and peptides purified from the venom of Vipera berus berus

open access: yesToxicon: X, 2022
The isolation and characterization of individual snake venom components is important for a deeper understanding of the pathophysiology of envenomation and for improving the therapeutic procedures of patients. It also opens possibilities for the discovery

Possible Involvement of Intracellular Calcium-Independent Phospholipase A2 in the Release of Secretory Phospholipases from Mast Cells—Increased Expression in Ileal Mast Cells of Crohn’s Disease

open access: yesCells, 2019
Increased activity of secretory phospholipases A2 (sPLA2) type-II was previously observed in ileum of Crohn’s disease (CD). Our aims were to explore the involvement of calcium-independent (i)PLA2β in the release of sPLA2s from the human mast ...

A Murray-von Neumann type classification of $C^*$-algebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
We define type $\mathfrak{A}$, type $\mathfrak{B}$, type $\mathfrak{C}$ as well as C*-semi-finite C*-algebras. It is shown that a von Neumann algebra is a type $\mathfrak{A}$, type $\mathfrak{B}$, type $\mathfrak{C}$ or C*-semi-finite C*-algebra if and only if it is, respectively, a type I, type II, type III or semi-finite von Neumann algebra.

Phospholipase C produced by Clostridium botulinum types C and D: comparison of gene, enzymatic, and biological activities with those of Clostridium perfringens alpha-toxin. [PDF]

open access: yesActa medica Okayama, 2013
Clostridium botulinum type C and D strains recently have been found to produce PLC on egg yolk agar plates. To characterize the gene, enzymatic and biological activities of C. botulinum PLCs (Cb-PLCs), the cb-plc genes from 8 strains were sequenced, and 1 representative gene was cloned and expressed as a recombinant protein. The enzymatic and hemolytic

Fresh insights into the light‐induced pineal gland circadian rhythm transmission mechanism derived from mRNA and miRNA profiling

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Mechanisms of light in regulating the chick pineal clock. Abstract The circadian clock significantly impacts animal health and productivity, with light playing a crucial role in regulating circadian rhythms. However, the mechanisms behind light‐induced circadian transmission remain unclear, particularly in light‐sensitive avian species.

Subproteome of Lachesis muta rhombeata venom and preliminary studies on LmrSP-4, a novel snake venom serine proteinase

open access: yesJournal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases, 2019
Background: Lachesis muta rhombeata is one of the venomous snakes of medical importance in Brazil whose envenoming is characterized by local and systemic effects which may produce even shock and death.

On the classification problem for C*-algebras [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
In the given article it is introduced new notions of a C$^*$-algebra of von Neumann type I and C$^*$-algebras of types I$_n$, II, II$_1$, II$_\infty$ and III. It is proved that any GCR-algebra is a C$^*$-algebra of von Neumann type I, and a C$^*$-algebra is an NGCR-algebra if and only if this C$^*$-algebra does not have a nonzero Abelian annihilator ...

Dynamic regulation of the transcriptome and proteome of the equine embryo during maternal recognition of pregnancy

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, Volume 4, Issue 12, Page 775-797, December 2022., 2022
Abstract During initial maternal recognition of pregnancy (MRP), the equine embryo displays a series of unique events characterized by rapid blastocyst expansion, secretion of a diverse array of molecules, and transuterine migration to interact with the uterine surface.
