Uric Acid Transport Characteristics in Human Erythrocytes

1977
Taken all together the results show that the RBC transport of U.A. seems to be partly of passive nature, closely similar to others mineral or organic anions, and partly of active nature related to compound of the membrane playing a role in cellular metabolism.

Hypoxanthine as inhibitor of uric acid transport in human erythrocytes

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1962
Abstract Hypoxanthine has a powerful inhibitory effect on uric acid transport through the human erythrocyte membrane. This inhibition is, in the case of influx of labelled uric acid, shown to be competitive in nature. The mechanism underlying the efflux of uric acid from erythrocytes seems to have two components, one sensitive to hypoxanthine and one

Uric Acid Transport in Renal Failure A Review

Nephron, 2008
The mechanism of uric acid transport in normal kidneys is describe dtogether with alterations in that mechanism that take place in chronic renal failure and are responsible for the increased uric acid excretion per nephron, as renal failure advances. The pyrazinamide suppression technique used to separate urate secretion from reabsorption is discussed ...

Micropuncture study of uric acid transport in rat kidney

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1975
Free-flow micropuncture studies were perfromed to evaluated uric acid transport in the rat kidney. In all studies (a-minus 14C) uric acid and (methoxy-3H) inulin wereadministered. A simple two-step, column-chromatographic technique was utilized to separate (2-minus 14C) uric acid from its labeled oxidation product in plasma, urine, and tubular fluid ...

Kinetics of uric acid transport in human erythrocytes

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1961
Abstract 1. 1. The transport of uric acid in erythrocytes has been studied in an equilibrated system by means of labelled uric acid. 2. 2. The necessary assumptions and calculations for such measurements are presented. 3. 3. The transport is, in contrast to simple diffusion, concentration dependent. The K s value for the transporting

Involvement of Uric Acid Transporters in Alteration of Serum Uric Acid Level by Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers

Pharmaceutical Research, 2007
To examine the mechanisms of the alteration of serum uric acid level by angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), the effects of ARBs on renal uric acid transporters, including OAT1, OAT3, OAT4, and MRP4, were evaluated.Uptakes of uric acid by OAT1-expressing Flp293 cells, by Xenopus oocytes expressing OAT3 or OAT4, and by membrane vesicles from Sf9 ...

Placental uric acid transporter GLUT9 is modulated by free iodine

Placenta, 2014
PLACENTAL URIC ACID TRANSPORTER GLUT9 IS MODULATED BY FREE IODINE Objectives: Materno-fetal transplacental transport is crucial for the fetal well-being. The altered expression of placental transport proteins under specific pathophysiological conditions may affect the intrauterine environment.

Hypouricemia and tubular transport of uric acid.

Nefrologia : publicacion oficial de la Sociedad Espanola Nefrologia, 2011
Hypouricemia is defined when a serum urate concentration is less than or equal 2.0mg/dl. Differential diagnosis is made by fractional uric acid excretion with the identification of urate transporters and intracellular proteins involved in the tubular transport of uric acid.

Purine derivatives as inhibitors of uric acid transport into human erythrocytes

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1962
Abstract The effect of several derivatives of purine and 8-aza-purine on uric acid transport into human erythrocytes has been investigated. The 6-substituted derivatives of purine which were investigated have approximately the same inhibitory effect as unsubstituted purine.

Uric acid relates to dopamine transporter availability in Parkinson's disease

Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 2014
Diagnosing Parkinson's disease (PD) and tracking its progression may require the combination of reliable biomarkers. Among them, both serum uric acid (UA) and dopamine transporter (DaT) binding deserve more investigations. We aimed to investigate the relationship between serum UA levels and DaT availability in newly diagnosed, drug-naïve PD patients, by
