Comparative Analysis of Differential Metabolites in Panax quinquefolius From China and the United States Using UPLC‐Orbitrap‐MS and LC‐MS/MS

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
trans‐ferulic acid and sinapic acid could be used to distinguish Chinese ginseng from American ginseng. Panax quinquefolius from China and the United States produced unique metabolites and phenolic compounds. ABSTRACT Currently, there is a relative paucity of comparative studies on the metabolites of American ginseng from different geographical sources.

Adipocyte Xbp1s overexpression drives uridine production and reduces obesity

open access: yesMolecular Metabolism, 2018
Objective: The spliced transcription factor Xbp1 (Xbp1s), a transducer of the unfolded protein response (UPR), regulates lipolysis. Lipolysis is stimulated by fasting when uridine synthesis is also activated in adipocytes.

Alterations and mechanistic insights of gut microbiota and its metabolites in type 2 diabetes mellitus and Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This narrative review uniquely addresses how gut microbiota‐derived metabolites mediate overlapping pathologies of insulin resistance, neuroinflammation, and amyloidogenesis in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and Alzheimer's disease (AD), proposing a framework for dual therapeutic targeting.

Temporal response patterns of human gut microbiota to dietary fiber

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
In this study, 19 overweight participants, with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus, underwent 14 days of normal‐diet observation followed by 14 days of dietary fiber intervention. Fecal samples and continuous glucose monitoring data were collected daily throughout the 28‐day period.

Synthetic biology for medical biomaterials

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Synthetic biology platform has been utilized to produce a variety of medical biomaterials (MBMs), such as polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), hyaluronic acid (HA), collagen (COL), poly(β‐malic acid) (PMLA), poly‐γ‐glutamic acid (γ‐PGA), alginate (ALG), chitosan (CS), bacterial cellulose (BC), and antimicrobial peptides (AMPs).
