Nutritional Intervention With Perennial Ryegrass Modulates UA Metabolism in Goslings via Gut Microbiota–Antioxidant Pathway Modulation

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Perennial ryegrass supplementation modulates UA‐metabolism in goslings by reducing serum uric acid and creatinine through inhibition of hepatic xanthine oxidase and upregulation of urate transporters (ABCG2, OAT1, OAT3). It enhances antioxidant capacity via Nrf2 activation, improves intestinal barrier integrity, and enriches beneficial gut microbiota ...

Hepatotoxicity Associated with Labetalol Use: A Case Report with Systematic Review and Disproportionality Analysis Using FAERS

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 66, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Labetalol is widely prescribed as a first‐line antihypertensive in pregnancy; however, rare but potentially severe idiosyncratic hepatotoxicity has been reported, with a disproportionately strong reporting signal for liver injury relative to other β‐blockers.

Mini‐Catalytically Inactive Cas13X‐Derived RNA Base Editing of β‐Catenin Attenuates Pulmonary Damage in a Murine Acute Lung Injury Model

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
AAV6.2FF‐delivered CARTEL (mini‐dCas13X‐mediated A‐to‐I editor) introduces c.121A>G editing in β‐catenin RNA of alveolar type II cells, leading to sustained Wnt/β‐catenin activation, robust AT2 proliferation, significant attenuation of LPS‐induced acute lung injury, and no excess off‐target edits or fibrotic toxicity for 4 weeks.

Identification of Blood Pressure‐Associated Metabolites by Integrating Metabolomic and Genetic Analysis

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
This study identified 10 potential causality between metabolites and blood pressure and found potential genetic regulators of two metabolites. Multiomics integration revealed that a genetic variant near the omega‐3 metabolism genes (FADS1/FADS2) may influence blood pressure regulation by modulating prostaglandin E3 levels.

Bacterial Cellulose Synthase Catalyzes the Formation of Chitin

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 15, 20 April 2026.
Recombinant BcsA‐B from Rhodobacter sphaeroides is shown to cleave UDP‐GlcNAc (uridine diphosphate N‐acetylglucosamine), generating chitin with distinct β‐chitin Raman bands. These findings reveal that a cellulose synthase can process an alternative nucleotide sugar, providing biochemical evidence for the co‐synthesis of cellulose and chitin.

AI‐Augmented Iterative Screening of Libraries Against RNA Targets (AISLAR) Boosts Discovery of SAR‐Tractable RNA Binders and Rational Analog Design

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 6, Issue 4, April 2026.
AI‐augmented iterative screening of libraries against RNA targets (AISLAR) combines fluorescence resonance energy transfer screening, machine learning, and validation by dose response and isothermal titration calorimetry to discover RNA binders. Applied to p53 mRNA motifs, AISLAR identified chemotypes with tractable structure–activity relationships ...
