Structures of bilirubin conjugates synthesized in vitro from bilirubin and uridine diphosphate glucuronic acid, uridine diphosphate glucose or uridine diphosphate xylose by preparations from rat liver [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1972
1. In incubation mixtures containing digitonin-activated or untreated preparations from rat liver, albumin-solubilized bilirubin as the acceptor substrate and (a) UDP-glucuronic acid, (b) UDP-glucose or (c) UDP-xylose as the sugar donor, formation of the following ester glycosides was demonstrated: with (a), bilirubin β-d-monoglucuronoside, with (b ...

Metabolome Diversity Enhances Resistance of Intertidal Clams to Thermal Stress

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Meretrix species are widely distributed intertidal bivalves in China with significant ecological and economic importance, which are sensitive to thermal stress. Our results showed that thermal environments of clam habitats shaped metabolome diversity, which can enhance the resistance of intertidal clams to thermal stress.

The potential for biased signalling in the P2Y receptor family of GPCRs

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
The purinergic receptor family is primarily activated by nucleotides, and contains members of both the G protein coupled‐receptor (GPCR) superfamily (P1 and P2Y) and ligand‐gated ion channels (P2X). The P2Y receptors are widely expressed in the human body, and given the ubiquitous nature of nucleotides, purinergic signalling is involved with a plethora

Real‐world clinical and laboratory changes after switching to two‐drug regimen in HIV‐suppressed individuals: 48 weeks and beyond

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Two‐drug regimens (2DRs) may reduce long‐term drug toxicities and drug‐drug interactions for people with HIV (PWH) on antiretroviral therapy (ART). This study evaluated clinical and laboratory outcomes in PWH who switched from standard ART to dolutegravir and lamivudine (DTG + 3TC) in real‐world settings.

Evaluation of Torula Yeast (Candida utilis) Single Cell Proteins as a Partial Replacement for Soybean Meal in Broiler Diets: Effects on Productive Performance, Meat Quality Traits, and Plasma Metabolome

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Over recent years the use of yeast in feedstuffs has gained momentum due to novel developments in single‐cell proteins (SCPs). SCPs are considered a sustainable protein source, as their production enable to convert low‐value substrates (including industrial/agricultural wastes) into feed, with a related reduced environmental impact. This study

Effect of a uridine 5'-diphosphate glucose analogue on herpes simplex keratitis in rabbits and vaginal infection in guinea pigs

open access: yes, 2021
A uridine 5′-diphosphate glucose analogue, active in vitro against herpes simplex type 1 and 2 viruses, was assayed in rabbit infected corneas with the above viruses.

Increased sugar content impairs pollen fertility and reduces seed-setting in high-photosynthetic-efficiency rice

open access: yesCrop Journal
Crop yield depends on biomass, which is primarily associated with photosynthesis. We previously demonstrated that two photorespiratory bypasses, i.e., GOC (glycolate oxidase + oxalate oxidase + catalase) and GCGT (glycolate oxidase + catalase ...

Development of In Vitro and In Planta Strategies for Efficient Production of High‐Value Steviol Glycosides

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Steviol glycosides (SGs) are a group of sweet‐tasting diterpene glycosides found in Stevia rebaudiana. Production of high‐value SGs, Rebaudioside D (Reb D) and Reb M, is limited by inefficient conversion of Reb A to Reb D and stevioside to Reb E.

DNA Methylation Shapes Seed‐Borne Microbiome and Proteome Responses During Early Maize‐Beneficial Bacteria Interactions

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microorganism and plant interactions are crucial for development and environmental adaptation. Plant growth promoting bacteria enhance agricultural productivity in a sustainable manner, while epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation regulate gene expression and adaptive responses.
