Overexpression of UDP-glucose dehydrogenase from Larix gmelinii enhances growth and cold tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2017
Uridine diphosphate glucose dehydrogenase (UGDH) plays an important role in biosynthesis of hemicellulose by catalyzing oxidation of UDP-glucose (UDP-Glc) to UDP-glucuronate (UDP-GlcA), a key sugar nucleotide involved in biosynthesis of the plant cell ...

The relative rate of synthesis of liver uridine diphosphate sugars in d-galactosamine-treated rats [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biochemistry, 1975
Abstract 1. 1. The time course of the changes in the liver UDP-sugar concentration in D-galactosamine-treated rats as well as [2-14C]orotate and [U-14C] glucose incorporation into liver UDP-sugar derivatives was studied. 2. 2. Following the administration of a single dose of D-galactosamine (250 mg. per kg.

Genome-wide analysis of the UDP-glucose dehydrogenase gene family in Arabidopsis, a key enzyme for matrix polysaccharides in cell walls

open access: yes, 2007
Arabidopsis cell walls contain large amounts of pectins and hemicelluloses, which are predominantly synthesized via the common precursor UDP-glucuronic acid.

Increased sugar content impairs pollen fertility and reduces seed-setting in high-photosynthetic-efficiency rice

open access: yesCrop Journal
Crop yield depends on biomass, which is primarily associated with photosynthesis. We previously demonstrated that two photorespiratory bypasses, i.e., GOC (glycolate oxidase + oxalate oxidase + catalase) and GCGT (glycolate oxidase + catalase ...

Coupling of uridine-5'-diphosphate (UDP) formation and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) reduction for cytochemical localization of glycosyltransferases.

open access: yes, 1983
A technique applicable to the cytochemical localization of glycosyltransferases through a series of coupled enzyme reactions is described. Uridine-5'-diphosphate (UDP) formed by glycosyltransferases is first phosphorylated to uridine-5'-triphosphate ...

Tandem Duplication‐Driven Neofunctionalization of UDP‐Glycosyltransferases Shapes the Diversification of Triterpenoid Saponins in the Cucurbitaceae

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a chromosome‐level genome assembly of Siraitia grosvenorii and, through comparative genomics, uncover a conserved UGT73 tandem array driving triterpenoid saponin diversification in Cucurbitaceae. Crystalized SgUGT73AM30 further reveals the regioselectivity mechanism underlying its catalytic activity.

Molecular characterization of UGT94F2 and UGT86C4, two glycosyltransferases from Picrorhiza kurrooa: comparative structural insight and evaluation of substrate recognition.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Uridine diphosphate glycosyltransferases (UGTs) are pivotal in the process of glycosylation for decorating natural products with sugars. It is one of the versatile mechanisms in determining chemical complexity and diversity for the production of suite of

A Modular Nucleoside Kinase Cascade for the Synthesis of Ribonucleoside Triphosphates

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Damm et al. report standardized enzymatic cascades for production of all canonical nucleoside triphosphates from the corresponding nucleosides, using kinase‐catalyzed phosphorylation from acetyl phosphate. Reactions afforded ∼ 100 mM product in near‐quantitative conversion.

Overelaborated synaptic architecture and reduced synaptomatrix glycosylation in a Drosophila classic galactosemia disease model

open access: yesDisease Models & Mechanisms, 2014
Classic galactosemia (CG) is an autosomal recessive disorder resulting from loss of galactose-1-phosphate uridyltransferase (GALT), which catalyzes conversion of galactose-1-phosphate and uridine diphosphate (UDP)-glucose to glucose-1-phosphate and UDP ...
