Endothelium: Journal of Endothelial Cell Research, 2005
Differential splicing of the flt-1 mRNA generates soluble variant of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) receptor-1 (sVEGFR-1, also known as sFlt-1). The action of VEGF is antagonized by sVEGFR-1. Soluble VEGFR-1 binds to VEGF with a high affinity and therefore works to modulate VEGF and VEGF signaling pathway.

Angiogenesis, a critical process for growth and development is altered in intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptors VEGFR-1, soluble (s) VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2 represent a regulatory system, essential for both physiological and pathological angiogenesis. To study the implication of sVEGFR-1-a VEGF ...

European Journal of Cancer, 2008
Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 (VEGFR-1) exists in two isoforms: a membrane-bound isoform (mVEGFR-1) and a soluble one (sVEGFR-1). mVEGFR-1 is involved in endothelial cell migration and survival supported by VEGF-A and placenta growth factor (PlGF), whereas the biologic function of sVEGFR-1 has not been fully elucidated.

Aims Activation of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 (VEGFR-1) promotes invasiveness in some cancer cells. However, VEGFR-1 expression and its relationship with clinical features and prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remain unclear.

AbstractObjective. To analyze the role of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its naturally occurring circulating antagonist, soluble VEGF receptor‐1 (sVEGFR‐1), in infertility. VEGF is a key angiogenic factor in the endometrial and ovarian cyclic processes that are crucial for fertility and sVEGFR‐1 impairs its function and fertility in ...

Structure and dual function of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 (Flt-1)
The International Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology, 2001Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 (VEGFR-1/Flt-1) is structurally a typical tyrosine kinase receptor of about 180 kDa, and carries seven Ig-like domains in the extracellular region and a tyrosine kinase domain with a long kinase insert.

Inhibition of endothelial cell migration by vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 peptides.
2005The soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-1 (sVEGFR-1) is a polypeptide secreted by endothelial cells that contains six out of the seven extracellular Ig-like domains of the transmembrane VEGFR-1 and a unique sequence of 30 amino acids.
