Investigation of the Effect of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) on the Expression of the Genes miR-126, miR-296, HGS and VEGF-A Protein Levels in Tumor Tissue in Female Mice [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Biomedical Sciences, 2021
Background & Objective: The studies of the last two decades have shown that regular training is associated with the reduction of mortality among patients with breast cancer, and has an important role in inhibiting breast cancer progression as well as ...

Lactoferrin treatment activates acetylcholinesterase, decreasing acetylcholine levels in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell culture supernatants, inhibiting cell survival

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Representation of the suggested mode of action of lactoferrin (Lf) in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) A549 cells. Lf induces activation of caspase‐3 by activating p53 and AChE leading to decreased ACh concentrations. In turn, ACh signaling leads to activation of VEGF and AKT and blocking of caspase‐3.

miR-124, miR-126-3p, and miR-200b: Potential therapeutic targets for VEGF-mediated complications in proliferative diabetic retinopathy

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology
Introduction: This study aimed to investigate alterations in intravitreal microRNA and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) levels in patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) as these factors are implicated in PDR pathogenesis. Methods:

Serum cytokine levels in breast cancer patients during neoadjuvant treatment with bevacizumab

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2018
A high concentration of circulating vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in cancer patients is associated with an aggressive tumor phenotype. Here, serum levels of 27 cytokines and blood cell counts were assessed in breast cancer patients receiving ...

INTERRELATIONSHIP OF THE MEDIATOR OF ANGIOGENESIS OF VEGF-A WITH GLUTATHIONE METABOLISM PARAMETERS AND THE CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SYSTEMIC AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES WITH JOINT DAMAGE

open access: yesУчёные записки Санкт-Петербургского государственного медицинского университета им. Акад. И.П. Павлова, 2019
Introduction. In systemic autoimmune diseases with joint damage (SADJD), impaired angiogenesis occurs, which plays a key role in the progression of proliferative synovitis and in the development of lesions of the internal organs.

HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Metformin: a modulator of bevacizumab activity in cancer? A case report. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Recurrent type I endometrial cancer ((EC)) has poor prognosis and demands novel therapeutic approaches. Bevacizumab, a VEGF-A neutralizing monoclonal antibody, has shown clinical activity in this setting. To our knowledge, however, although some diabetic

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Pancreatic Cyst Fluid Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor A and Carcinoembryonic Antigen: A Highly Accurate Test for the Diagnosis of Serous Cystic Neoplasm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Accurate differentiation of pancreatic cystic lesions is important for early detection and prevention of pancreatic cancer, as well as avoidance of unnecessary surgical intervention. Serous cystic neoplasms (SCNs) have no malignant potential,
