Multi-Array 5G V2V Relative Positioning: Performance Bounds

open access: yes, 2019
We study the performance bounds of vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) relative positioning for vehicles with multiple antenna arrays. The Cram\'{e}r-Rao bound for the estimation of the relative position and the orientation of the Tx vehicle is derived, when angle ...

Signal Timing and CAV Trajectory Joint Control Under Mixed Vehicular Environments With Hierarchical Proximal Policy Optimisation

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper introduces SVCC‐HPPO, a novel Signal‐Vehicle Cooperative Control framework using an improved Hierarchical Proximal Policy Optimisation (H‐PPO) algorithm to jointly optimise traffic signal timing and Connected/Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) trajectories in mixed traffic environments.

Coherence in Large-Scale Networks: Dimension-Dependent Limitations of Local Feedback

open access: yes, 2011
We consider distributed consensus and vehicular formation control problems. Specifically we address the question of whether local feedback is sufficient to maintain coherence in large-scale networks subject to stochastic disturbances.

LSTM‐Based Centralized/Decentralized Controller Design for Vehicular Platooning

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper explores the development of a controller for vehicle platooning utilizing long short‐term memory (LSTM) networks. We, in particular, aim to address the complex control requirements necessary for adapting to the diverse movement patterns of human‐operated leading vehicle. The LSTM‐based controller is trained not only to achieve convergence to

The Green Choice: Learning and Influencing Human Decisions on Shared Roads

open access: yes, 2019
Autonomous vehicles have the potential to increase the capacity of roads via platooning, even when human drivers and autonomous vehicles share roads. However, when users of a road network choose their routes selfishly, the resulting traffic configuration

Sliding‐Mode Control of Electromagnetic Suspension Systems Considering Disturbance Compensation

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study proposes an integrated control strategy for magnetic levitation systems, combining a cascaded linear extended state observer with an improved sliding‐mode control. This method accurately estimates and compensates for disturbances, significantly enhancing suspension stability and rejection capability.
