Viral quasispecies profiles as the result of the interplay of competition and cooperation [PDF]
Viral quasispecies can be regarded as a swarm of genetically related mutants or a quasispecies (QS). A common formalism to approach QS is the replicator-mutator equation (RME).

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Viral diversity of Junín virus field strains
The Argentine Hemorrhagic Fever, an endemic disease present in a much of Argentina, is caused by the Junín virus (JUNV). Currently, there are sequences available from several strains of this virus, like those belonging to the vaccine lineage (XJ13, XJ#44 and Candid#1), as well as MC2 (rodent isolate) and IV4454 (human isolate).

The diversity of endogenous viral elements in insects
We provide an overview of the currently known diversity of viral sequences integrated into insect genomes. Such endogenous viral elements (EVE) have so far been annotated in at least eight insect orders and can be assigned to at least three families of large double-stranded (ds) DNA viruses, at least 22 families of RNA viruses, and three families of ...

This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Arctic an unexpected hotspot for viral diversity [PDF]
This study reports the findings of a large global survey of the ecological diversity of viruses in the oceans and shows that the Arctic ocean is an unexpected hotspot for viral diversity.

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

Dicer-2 Processes Diverse Viral RNA Species
RNA silencing pathways play critical roles in gene regulation, virus infection, and transposon control. RNA interference (RNAi) is mediated by small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), which are liberated from double-stranded (ds)RNA precursors by Dicer and guide the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to targets.

Characterization of viral diversity in wild marmot blood from the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau
IntroductionThis study aimed to characterize the viral diversity in the blood of marmots in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region, to assess their role as potential viral reservoirs and evaluate the potential implications for wildlife and human health ...
