Comparative Effectiveness and Safety of Inebilizumab Versus Rituximab in AQP4‐IgG‐Positive NMOSD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rituximab (anti‐CD20, RTX) and inebilizumab (anti‐CD19, INE) represent B‐cell‐depleting therapies used for aquaporin‐4 antibody‐positive (AQP4‐IgG+) neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD); however, direct comparative evidence remains limited.

Neurovascular Contacts in the Pathophysiology of Neuralgic Amyotrophy: An Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neuralgic amyotrophy (NA) is a prevalent, monophasic, multifocal immune‐mediated neuropathy. A distinctive characteristic of the disease is the occurrence of nerve or fascicle constrictions and torsions (NA‐associated focal nerve lesions, NAFL). The pathophysiology underlying this phenomenon remains to be fully elucidated.

IFNβ absence compensates for LAT functions in latency reactivation and T cell exhaustion

open access: yesJournal of Virology
Type I interferons (IFNs) generate strong antiviral immunity following viral infection in mice and humans. These type I IFNs are encoded by at least 14 IFNα genes and a single IFNβ gene.

MOGAD Is the Most Common Cause of Isolated Optic Neuritis in Children

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives The study aimed to characterize the clinical features, etiologies, and outcomes of isolated, first‐time pediatric ON in the post‐MOG‐IgG era. Methods This was a single‐center retrospective cohort study at Texas Children's Hospital of patients diagnosed with first‐time ON between 2018–2024, with follow‐up data collected through 2025.

Human Cytomegalovirus US28 Ligand Binding Activity Is Required for Latency in CD34+ Hematopoietic Progenitor Cells and Humanized NSG Mice

open access: yesmBio, 2019
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection of CD34+ hematopoietic progenitor cells (CD34+ HPCs) provides a critical reservoir of virus in stem cell transplant patients, and viral reactivation remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality.

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Upregulation of the cell-cycle regulator RGC-32 in Epstein-Barr virus-immortalized cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is implicated in the pathogenesis of multiple human tumours of lymphoid and epithelial origin. The virus infects and immortalizes B cells establishing a persistent latent infection characterized by varying patterns of EBV latent ...

Binding of herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM) and HSV-1 gD affect reactivation but not latency levels.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2023
Previously we reported that the HSV-1 latency associated transcript (LAT) specifically upregulates the cellular herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM) but no other known HSV-1 receptors.

GATA4‐Driven Transcription of HtrA1 Promotes Cellular Senescence in Ménière's Disease and Age‐Related Audio‐Vestibular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the HDAC6/GATA4/HtrA1 axis as a critical driver of cellular senescence in the inner ear. GATA4 nuclear translocation, facilitated by HDAC6 downregulation, transcriptionally activates HtrA1, promoting hair cell senescence, SASP, and audio‐vestibular dysfunction in models of Ménière's disease and age‐related audio‐vestibular ...
