A Superfamily of Voltage-gated Sodium Channels in Bacteria [PDF]
NaChBac, a six-alpha-helical transmembrane-spanning protein cloned from Bacillus halodurans, is the first functionally characterized bacterial voltage-gated Na(+)-selective channel. As a highly expressing ion channel protein, NaChBac is an ideal candidate for high resolution structural determination and structure-function studies.

Ion channel gradients in the apical tuft region of CA1 pyramidal neurons. [PDF]
Dendritic ion channels play a critical role in shaping synaptic input and are fundamentally important for synaptic integration and plasticity. In the hippocampal region CA1, somato-dendritic gradients of AMPA receptors and the hyperpolarization-activated

Structure and function of potassium and calcium channels [PDF]
In this thesis, potassium channels human Kv2.1 and rat Kv2.1, along with calcium channels Ca, 1.2, Ca, 3.1, and chimeras have been studied. These channels were expressed in Xenopuso ocytesf or electrophysiological experiments using two electrode voltage

Linkage between increased nociception and olfaction via a SCN9A haplotype
Background and Aims: Mutations reducing the function of Nav1.7 sodium channels entail diminished pain perception and olfactory acuity, suggesting a link between nociception and olfaction at ion channel level.

Regulation of neuronal excitability through pumilio-dependent control of a sodium channel gene [PDF]
Dynamic changes in synaptic connectivity and strength, which occur during both embryonic development and learning, have the tendency to destabilize neural circuits.

Voltage-gated sodium channels (VGSCs; NaV1.1–NaV1.9) have been proven to be critical in controlling the function of excitable cells, and human genetic evidence shows that aberrant function of these channels causes channelopathies, including epilepsy ...

Structure and function of voltage‐gated sodium channels
Sodium channels mediate fast depolarization and conduct electrical impulses throughout nerve, muscle and heart. This paper reviews the links between sodium channel structure and function. Sodium channels have a modular architecture, with distinct regions for the pore and the gates.

Tissue-specific expression of calcium channels [PDF]
The high-voltage-activated calcium channel is a multimeric protein complex containing 1, 2/δ, β, and γ subunits. The 1 subunit is the ion conduction channel and contains the binding sites for calcium channel blockers and toxins.

Electrophysiological modulation of pain‑related sodium channels by cannabinoids: a systematic review
Background Voltage-gated sodium channels regulate dorsal root ganglion excitability and are critical for nociceptive transmission. Cannabidiol (CBD) and related phytocannabinoids have been proposed to modulate these channels, offering potential non ...
