Expression and purification of recombinant polyomavirus VP2 protein and its interactions with polyomavirus proteins [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1994
Recombinant polyomavirus VP2 protein was expressed in Escherichia coli (RK1448), using the recombinant expression system pFPYV2. Recombinant VP2 was purified to near homogeneity by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, electroelution, and Extracti-Gel chromatography.

In silico Evolutionary Divergence Analysis Suggests the Potentiality of Capsid Protein VP2 in Serotype-Independent Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus Detection

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2020
Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is an economically devastating disease of the livestock worldwide and caused by the FMD virus (FMDV), which has seven immunologically distinct serotypes (O, A, Asia1, C, and SAT1–SAT3).

Variation in the Bluetongue Virus Neutralization Protein VP2

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1987
To determine the extent and nature of the antigenic variation of four U.S.A. serotypes of bluetongue virus (BTV), the complete nucleotide sequence was determined for cDNA clones representing the L2 dsRNA of BTV serotype 13, the gene that codes for the outer capsid neutralization antigen (VP2).

The Type II Secretory System Mediates Phage Infection in Vibrio cholerae

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2021
Attachment and specific binding to the receptor on the host cell surface is the first step in the process of bacteriophage infection. The lytic phage VP2 is used in phage subtyping of the Vibrio cholerae biotype El Tor of the O1 serogroup; however, its ...

Encephalomyocarditis virus abrogates the IFN-β signaling pathway via its structural protein VP2

open access: yes, 2020
Type I interferon (IFN) - mediated antiviral responses are critical at modulating host-virus responses and indeed viruses have evolved strategies to antagonize this pathway.

Identification of a new neutralization antigenic site on poliovirus coat protein VP2 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1984
Major neutralization antigenic sites have been previously mapped by us on VP1, the largest capsid protein of poliovirus type 1. Here we report the first identification of the primary sequence of a neutralization antigenic site on capsid protein VP2. Inspection of the amino acid sequence of VP2 led to the selection and synthesis of a peptide (n = 12 ...
