Wee1 kinase differentially regulates maize CDKA2;1a and CDKB1;1
In eukaryotes, Wee1 kinase inhibits the kinase activity of CDK/Cyc complexes through phosphorylation of a conserved residue in the CDK moiety. Wee1 is also present in plants, but has been scarcely studied. We have studied maize Wee1 regulation of CDKA/CycD2;2a or CDKB/CycD2;2a complexes.

Atherosclerosis has an urgent need for new therapeutic targets. Protein kinases orchestrate multiple cellular events in atherosclerosis and may provide new therapeutic targets for atherosclerosis. Here, a protein kinase, WEE1 G2 checkpoint kinase (WEE1),

The tomato mars1/rough mutant displays enhanced root regeneration and rough fruits due to ectopic cell proliferation. The causal gene encodes a lysine‐specific histone demethylase that normally maintains gene silencing. Its loss alters histone methylation, upregulating several genes, including those B‐type cyclins involved in tissue‐specific cellular ...

Background Targeting poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) has been recently identified as a promising option against gastric cancer (GC). However, PARP inhibitors alone achieve limited efficacy.

This study introduces a biomimetic “nanofusion” platform that integrates the biostability of threose nucleic acids (TNA) with homotypic cell‐membrane cloaking to combat drug‐resistant TNBC. By leveraging a non‐canonical membrane‐fusion pathway for direct cytosolic delivery, the platform bypasses endosomal sequestration. To achieve potent AKT2 silencing

Wee1 kinase regulates the G2/M cell cycle checkpoint by phosphorylating and inactivating the mitotic cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (Cdk1). Loss of Wee1 in many systems, including yeast and drosophila, leads to premature mitotic entry.

WEE1 inhibitors synergise with mRNA translation defects via activation of the kinase GCN2
Inhibitors of the protein kinase WEE1 have emerged as promising agents for cancer therapy. In this study, we uncover synergistic interactions between WEE1 small-molecule inhibitors and defects in mRNA translation, mediated by activation of the integrated

This study unveils a pathogenic axis in oral cancer where NUDT21 suppresses a tumor suppressor network, prominently PTEN, via 3'UTR lengthening. To exploit this transcriptomic vulnerability, we developed a biomimetic Nano‐APA‐editor. By delivering CRISPR/Cas9, we reprogrammed the global 3'UTR landscape, restoring multi‐target tumor suppression and ...

ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that paternal environmental factors have epigenetic effects on sperm and influence offspring. Neonicotinoid pesticides (NNs), which are widely used around the world, are known to affect offspring phenotypes through maternal exposure in mice, but the effect of the paternal exposure remains unknown.

This work synthesizes recent insights into the pathological roles of cyclins and cyclin‐dependent kinases (CDKs) across human cancers, highlights state‐of‐the‐art innovative approaches (especially targeted degradation and redistribution of CDK/cyclin proteins) for cancer therapy, and outlines future directions for CDK/cyclin‐related biomedical research.
