A Soft Matrix Microenvironment Promotes Laterally Spreading Tumors via Oxidative Phosphorylation‐Dependent Cell Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) are precancerous colorectal lesions characterized by a flat morphology. This study reveals a mechanochemical pathway through which a soft matrix microenvironment diminishes spatial constraints in intestinal adenomas. This process promotes deficiencies in tight junction proteins, mediated by the mechanoreceptor ADORA2B ...

Integrated genomics and proteomics define huntingtin CAG length-dependent networks in mice. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
To gain insight into how mutant huntingtin (mHtt) CAG repeat length modifies Huntington's disease (HD) pathogenesis, we profiled mRNA in over 600 brain and peripheral tissue samples from HD knock-in mice with increasing CAG repeat lengths.

Liver Kinase B1 in CD11c+ Cells Inhibits Fibrosis in Chronic Pancreatitis via the Oncostatin M Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates significantly reduced Lkb1 expression in CD11c+ cells in chronic pancreatitis (CP) patients and animal models. Lkb1 deletion enhances CD11c+CD206+ macrophage infiltration and reprograms pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs) via OSM signaling.

Unveiling microbial succession dynamics on different plastic surfaces using WGCNA

open access: yesPLOS ONE
Over recent decades, marine microorganisms have increasingly adapted to plastic debris, forming distinct plastic-attached microbial communities. Despite this, the colonization and succession processes on plastic surfaces in marine environments remain poorly understood. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted a microbiome succession experiment using

Profiling the accumulation of ten bioactive compounds in Rheum officinale across different growth years using integrated HPLC and transcriptomic approaches

open access: yesMedicinal Plant Biology
Rheum officinale is a prominent traditional medicinal herb in the Chinese Pharmacopeia. Variations in the composition and accumulation of secondary metabolites in R. officinale have been observed to correlate with harvest periods. This study investigated

Extracellular vesicles produced in B cells deliver tumor suppressor miR-335 to breast cancer cells disrupting oncogenic programming in vitro and in vivo. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The successful implementation of miRNA (miR) therapies in humans will ultimately rely on the use of vehicles with improved cellular delivery capability. Here we tested a new system that leverages extracellular vesicles (EVs) laden with a tumor suppressor

A Novel CsYABBY3‐CsAS1 Feedback Loop Coordinates Trichome Differentiation and Cannabinoid Biosynthesis in Cannabis sativa L.

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel transcriptional module involving CsYABBY3 and CsAS1 is identified to regulate cannabinoid biosynthesis and trichome development. These factors mutually activate each other and form a protein complex via a conserved residue, acting synergistically to amplify metabolic flux through a coordinate feed‐forward mechanism.

Weighted Correlation Network Analysis Reveals CDK2 as a Regulator of a Ubiquitous Environmental Toxin-Induced Cell-Cycle Arrest

open access: yesCells, 2020
Environmental food contaminants constitute a threat to human health. For instance, the globally spread mycotoxin Ochratoxin A (OTA) contributes to chronic kidney damage by affecting proximal tubule cells via unknown mechanisms.

Transcriptional landscape of epithelial and immune cell populations revealed through FACS-seq of healthy human skin. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Human skin consists of multiple cell types, including epithelial, immune, and stromal cells. Transcriptomic analyses have previously been performed from bulk skin samples or from epithelial and immune cells expanded in cell culture.
