Increased freezing tolerance in an ABA-hypersensitive mutant of common wheat [PDF]
To study role of abscisic acid (ABA) in cold acclimation and cold/freezing tolerance in wheat, we analyzed an ABA-hypersensitive mutant of Triticum aestivum, named ABA27. ABA-hypersensitivity in ABA27 was confirmed by bioassays involving germination and seedling growth and expression analysis of ABA-responsive genes in comparison with the parental ...

Specific Inhibition of Lignification Breaks Hypersensitive Resistance of Wheat to Stem Rust [PDF]
When highly resistant wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties are infected by an avirulent race of the stem rust fungus (Puccinia graminis Pers. f. sp. tritici Erics. and E. Henn.), penetrated host cells undergo rapid necrotization. This hypersensitive cell death is correlated with cellular lignification which efficiently restricts further fungal growth.

HLA Class I or Class II and Disease Association: Catch the Difference if You Can [PDF]
The association of autoimmune diseases with HLA has been known for many decades. To date, however, the underlying mechanisms have not been fully understood. The recently introduced genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have suggested that several genes

The integrated concept of disease resistance; a new view including horizontal and vertical resistance in plants [PDF]
Horizontal, uniform, race-non-specific or stable resistance can be discerned according to Van der Plank, from vertical, differential, race-specific or unstable resistance by a test in which a number of host genotypes (cultivars or clones) are tested ...
