SNP Diversity and Genetic Structure of “Rogosija”, an Old Western Balkan Durum Wheat Collection
Durum wheat landraces represent a genetic resource for the identification and isolation of new valuable genes and alleles, useful to increase the crop adaptability to climate change.

Durum Wheat cv. Svevo Reference Genome Rel.2.0: A Comprehensive Tool for Wheat Genomics
ABSTRACT Advancements in plant genome sequencing and assembly have enabled the production of increasingly accurate and contiguous genome sequences. Here, we present the chromosome‐level assembly of the durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. ssp. durum, cv. Svevo) reference genome produced using accurate long‐reads, optical mapping and Hi‐C. The new assembly

The CaM1‐CBP60b‐MYB77 Transcriptional Cascade Regulates K+ Homeostasis and Salt Tolerance in Barley
ABSTRACT Soil salinity is a major abiotic stress that threatens global crop productivity. Calcium (Ca2+) is a pivotal second messenger in plant stress signalling, but how Ca2+ sensors such as calmodulin (CaM) transcriptionally control ion homeostasis and salt tolerance remains largely understood in crops.

Novel sources of variation in grain Zinc (Zn) concentration in bread wheat germplasm derived from Watkins landraces [PDF]
A diverse panel of 245 wheat genotypes, derived from crosses between landraces from the Watkins collection representing global diversity in the early 20th century and the modern wheat cultivar Paragon, was grown at two field sites in the UK in 2015–16 ...

Natural Variation in GmSL20 Improves Seed Size and Quality in Soybean
ABSTRACT Seed size plays an important role in determining crop yield, yet the genetic mechanisms underlying the regulation of this agronomic trait remain incompletely understood in soybean. Here, we perform a genome‐wide association study mapping with seed length variations and identify a major quantitative trait locus (QTL) on chromosome 20, named ...

Wheat landraces from Oman: A botanical analysis
The wheat landraces of Oman are chacterized. Their main constituents are Triticum aestivum L. ssp. aestivum , T. aestivum ssp. hadropyrum (Flaksb.) Tzvel., T. compactum Host, T. aethiopicum Jakubz.ssp. aethiopicum , T. aethiopicum ssp. vavilovianum Jakubz. et A. Filat. and T. dicoccon Schrank. The classification of the landraces was

Wheat landraces as sources of high grain quality and nutritional properties
Background. Improving the grain quality of modern spring bread wheat cultivars is a highly relevant task of breeding. To solve this problem, old and local wheat varieties (landraces) are of considerable interest.

ABSTRACT Developing barley grains must balance the use of imported sucrose between soluble sugars and storage starch, but how this balance is controlled remains unclear. Here we show that loss of the plastidial α‐glucan phosphorylase HvPHO1 causes starch and soluble sugars to accumulate concurrently in barley grains.

ABSTRACT Fall armyworm (FAW) (Spodoptera frugiperda J. E. Smith) has emerged as a serious pest since 2016 in Africa, affecting the food security and livelihoods of millions of smallholder farmers, especially those growing maize. Native genetic resistance to FAW is essential for reducing yield loss.
