Tubocapsenolide A Overcomes Oxaliplatin Resistance in Colorectal Cancer by Targeting PLK1 to Impair CEP55–ESCRT‐Associated Vesicular Damage Clearance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Oxaliplatin‐resistant colorectal cancer cells utilize a previously unappreciated PLK1‐CEP55‐ESCRT‐driven vesicular extrusion mechanism to clear L‐OHP‐induced cellular damage. The natural withanolide Tubocapsenolide A directly targets and inhibits PLK1 to disrupt this specific damage‐clearance machinery. This blockade induces severe nucleolar stress and

Overexpression of the Arabidopsis thaliana squalene synthase gene in Withania coagulans hairy root cultures

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2011
Squalene synthase (SS) dimerizes two molecules of farnesyl diphosphate to synthesize squalene, a shared precursor in steroid and triterpenoid biosynthesis in plants.

Harnessing ferroptosis from multilayer defense networks to nanoplatforms for specific cancer therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials target metabolically‐regulated ferroptosis for cancer therapy. Iron‐based or alternative nanoplatforms integrate ferroptosis with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiotherapy. They enable stimulus‐responsive therapies (photothermal, photodynamic, sonodynamic) activated by near‐infrared, light, or ultrasound, achieving potent synergistic ...

Safety and Metabolic Effects of Withania somnifera Seed Extract and Powder in Rats: Insights From DPP‐4 Molecular Docking

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Withania somnifera seed extract and powder improved metabolic parameters in rats, particularly at higher extract doses, without evident hepatic, renal, hematological, or histopathological toxicity. Molecular docking further predicted strong DPP‐4 inhibitory potential of withanone, supporting the antidiabetic potential of W. somnifera seeds.

Computational and Biological Comparisons of Plant Steroids as Modulators of Inflammation through Interacting with Glucocorticoid Receptor

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2019
Despite the usefulness of glucocorticoids, they may cause hazardous side effects that limit their use. Searching for compounds that are as equally efficient as glucocorticoids, but with less side effects, the current study compared plant steroids, namely,

Prevention of Early Onset of Breast Cancer With Ashwagandha

open access: yesMolecular Carcinogenesis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Prevention of breast cancer is feasible because many risk factors for this malignancy are known (e.g., family history, reproductive factors, etc.). Medicinal plants and/or their bioactive phytochemicals are attractive for the prevention of early onset of breast cancer due to their generally favorable safety profile.

Why is Mortalin a Potential Therapeutic Target for Cancer?

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2022
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020. Therefore, cancer therapy is a priority research field to explore the biology of the disease and identify novel targets for the development of better

Semi-synthesis of a novel hybrid isoxazolidino withaferin via chemoselective and diastereoselective 1,3-dipolar nitrone cycloaddition reaction

open access: yes, 2019
A facile, atom-economic synthesis of isoxazilidino withaferin, a novel hybrid of withaferin A, has been accomplished via two-step reaction of nitrone synthesis followed by nitrone 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition.
