Ashwagandha Root Extract and Its Potential Modulation of CCN1‐Associated Pathways in Sensitive‐Skin Aging [PDF]

open access: yesJ Cosmet Dermatol
ABSTRACT Background Cellular Communication Network Factor 1 (CCN1) has been identified as a key regulator of oxidative stress‐induced skin aging and sensitivity. Ashwagandha root extract (ARE) is a promising candidate for modulating CCN1‐associated pathways. Aims To investigate whether ARE can mitigate sensitive‐skin aging by modulating CCN1 expression

Oxidative and Antioxidant Systems in Ferroptosis of Cancer: Mechanisms, Regulations, and Therapeutic Targeting

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
Ferroptosis is governed by the balance between reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐driven lipid peroxidation and a multi‐tiered antioxidant network. ROS sources include mitochondrial electron transport chain, voltage‐dependent anion channels, NADPH oxidases, and endoplasmic reticulum‐resident oxidoreductases, while antioxidant defenses span the primary GSH ...

Matrine Attenuates Neurological Deficits and Neuroinflammation by Inhibiting the HMGB1/RAGE Axis and Ferroptosis in Intracerebral Hemorrhage Mice

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, Volume 42, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a life‐threatening stroke subtype that lacks effective drug therapy. In the context of ICH, neuroinflammation, and ferroptosis are key contributors to secondary brain injury. In this study, we assessed the neuroprotective effects of matrine (MAT) and its mechanism of action involving the HMGB1/RAGE axis in an ...

Withaferin A is a leptin sensitizer with strong antidiabetic properties in mice [PDF]

open access: yesNature Medicine, 2016
The increasing global prevalence of obesity and its associated disorders points to an urgent need for the development of novel and effective therapeutic strategies that induce healthy weight loss. Obesity is characterized by hyperleptinemia and central leptin resistance.

Genetic and Withaferin A Analysis of Iranian Natural Populations of and by RAPD and HPTLC

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2009
For successful conservation and breeding of a medicinal species, it is important to evaluate its genetic diversity as well as its content of phytochemical compounds. The aim of the present study was to investigate the genetic variation of Iranian natural

Evaluation of Withaferin A Content in Withania somnifera Using NMR and HPLC: A Comparative Assessment of Traditional and PCSL Extraction Methods

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 6, June 2026.
A comparative evaluation of traditional aqueous extractions and innovative pressurised cyclic solid–liquid extraction is presented for Withania somnifera leaves. Quantitative NMR, validated by HPLC, reveals a markedly enhanced preservation and recovery of withaferin A using PCSL.

Mechanistic Elucidation of the Antitumor Properties of Withaferin A in Breast Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Research, 2014
Abstract Withaferin A (WFA) is a steroidal lactone with antitumor effects manifested at multiple levels that are mechanistically obscure. Using a phospho-kinase screening array, we discovered that WFA activated phosphorylation of the S6 kinase RSK (ribosomal S6 kinase) in breast cancer cells.
