Biotransformation of withaferin-a by a culture ofArthrobacter simplex
Folia Microbiologica, 1985Arthrobacter simplex biotransformed withaferin-A under submerged conditions to 7 new derivatives while 4,27-di-O-acetylwithaferin-A was transformed to another 9 derivatives. The melting point of all these substances was determined, along with RF values and colour reactions with 4-anisaldehyde reagent.

X-Ray crystal-structure analysis of withaferin A acetate p-bromobenzoate, C37H43BrO8, has established the constitution and absolute stereochemistry of withaferin A, a novel tumour-inhibiting 5β-steroidal lactone isolated from Acnistus arborescens. The crystals are orthorhombic, of space group P212121, with eight molecules of the p-bromobenzoate and ...

Response of a Mouse Fibrosarcoma to Withaferin A and Radiation
Pharmacy and Pharmacology Communications, 1999The in-vivo growth response of a transplantable mouse AEbrosarcoma to withaferin A, a plant steroidal lactone, with or without local gamma radiation, was studied. Solid tumours were obtained by injecting 5 6 10 5 tumour cells on the dorsal skin of adult Swiss albino mice.
