Aging of Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome fibroblasts is characterised by hyperproliferation and increased apoptosis [PDF]
Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that mimics certain aspects of aging prematurely. Recent work has revealed that mutations in the lamin A gene are a cause of the disease.

This phase II trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of niraparib combined with HX008 in metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients with germline DNA damage response (DDR) gene mutations. This chemotherapy‐free regimen demonstrates promising efficacy and a tolerable safety profile in MBC patients with germline DDR mutations, providing a novel therapeutic

WRN loss accelerates abnormal adipocyte metabolism in Werner syndrome
Background Metabolic dysfunction is one of the main symptoms of Werner syndrome (WS); however, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we report that loss of WRN accelerates adipogenesis at an early stage both in vitro (stem cells) and in vivo ...

Harnessing Deep Learning in Searching Wild Relatives of Domestic Animals
ABSTRACT Wild relatives of domestic animals are crucial reservoirs of genetic diversity, yet pervasive hybridization with domestic animals poses significant conservation challenges. Here, we developed a deep learning–based pipeline, consisting of a multi‐layer perceptron for SNP panel selection and a Deep & Cross Network for model training, to discern ...

Highly conserved type 1 pili promote enterotoxigenic E. coli pathogen-host interactions [PDF]
Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC), defined by their elaboration of heat-labile (LT) and/or heat-stable (ST) enterotoxins, are a common cause of diarrheal illness in developing countries.

Online Filter Clustering and Pruning for Efficient Convnets
Pruning filters is an effective method for accelerating deep neural networks (DNNs), but most existing approaches prune filters on a pre-trained network directly which limits in acceleration.

Molecular adaptation of telomere associated genes in mammals [PDF]
Background: Placental mammals display a huge range of life history traits, including size, longevity, metabolic rate and germ line generation time. Although a number of general trends have been proposed between these traits, there are exceptions that ...

Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.
