Optimum cut in XDP crystals for transverse light modulation

The most general expression for the half-wave voltage of an XDP transverse modulator crystal of given aspect ratio d/l has only three minima. The lowest voltage drive is obtained from a crystal cut which is of the type recently reported by Hookabe and Matsuo, but slightly different from it. For ADP, the difference amounts to 4% of the voltage drive.
