Revised Definitions of Tuberculosis Resistance and Treatment Outcomes, France, 2006–2019
Definitions of resistance in multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR TB) have been updated. Pre–XDR TB, defined as MDR TB with additional resistance to fluoroquinolones, and XDR TB, with additional ...

A deep Herschel/PACS observation of CO(40-39) in NGC 1068: a search for the molecular torus [PDF]
Emission from high-J CO lines in galaxies has long been proposed as a tracer of X-ray dominated regions (XDRs) produced by AGN. Of particular interest is the question of whether the obscuring torus, which is required by AGN unification models, can be ...

MDR, Pre-XDR and XDR Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis in Poland in 2000–2009
Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is a curable disease and its spread can be prevented by using appropriate diagnostics methods and effective treatment. The obstacle to the rapid eradication of the disease from a population may be strainsresistant to essential and most effective antibiotics.

Molecular gas chemistry in AGN. II. High-resolution imaging of SiO emission in NGC1068: shocks or XDR? [PDF]
This paper is part of a multi-species survey of line emission from the molecular gas in the circum-nuclear disk (CND) of the Seyfert 2 galaxy NGC1068. Single-dish observations have provided evidence that the abundance of silicon monoxide(SiO) in the CND ...

Dense circum-nuclear molecular gas in starburst galaxies [PDF]
We present results from a study of the dense circum-nuclear molecular gas of starburst galaxies. The study aims to investigate the interplay between starbursts, active galactic nuclei and molecular gas. We characterise the dense gas traced by HCN, HCO$^{+

The growing concern of MDR/XDR bacteria in patients undergoing dialysis: a cross-sectional study
Background. Dialysis patients are at heightened risk for multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) bacterial infections due to their vulnerability to infections and frequent exposure to healthcare environments.

This randomised phase 2a trial in South Korea recruited 41 patients with sputum culture-positive pulmonary extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB), who had failed to respond to 6 months of available treatment. Daily dosage of 600 mg linezolid was added either immediately or after a delay of two months.

Rapid Diagnosis of XDR and Pre-XDR TB
INTRODUCTION: No previous systematic reviews have comprehensively investigated the features of Xpert MTB/XDR and other rapid tests to diagnose pre-XDR/XDR-TB. The aim of this systematic review is to assess existing rapid diagnostics for pre-XDR/XDR-TB from a point-of-care perspective and describe their technical characteristics (i.e., sensitivity ...

CO excitation in the Seyfert galaxy NGC 34: stars, shock or AGN driven?
We present a detailed analysis of the X-ray and molecular gas emission in the nearby galaxy NGC 34, to constrain the properties of molecular gas, and assess whether, and to what extent, the radiation produced by the accretion onto the central black hole ...
