Enzymes Activities Analysis Involved in AsA-GSH Cycle of Yellow-flesh Kiwifruit Genotypes

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
In order to investigate the activity of AsA-GSH cycle related enzymes in yellow flesh kiwifruits, we studied the five kinds of yellow flesh kiwifruits and measured their related enzymes activities by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. The result showed that ‘

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Nutritional Value of Coloured Flesh Potato Tubers in Terms of Their Micronutrient Content

open access: yesAgronomy
The aim of this study was to compare Fe, Zn, Mn, Al and Li contents in table potato tubers, obtained from seven potato cultivars with different flesh colour, and one cultivar characterised by light-coloured flesh.

Influence of Cultivar on the Postharvest Hardening of Trifoliate Yam (Dioscorea dumetorum) Tubers

open access: yesAdvances in Agriculture, 2016
The influence of cultivar on the postharvest hardening of Dioscorea dumetorum tubers was assessed. 32 cultivars of D. dumetorum tubers were planted in April 2014, harvested at physiological maturity, and stored under prevailing tropical ambient ...

Mapping and predicting a candidate gene for flesh color in watermelon

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2021
The color of watermelon flesh is an important trait determined by a series of carotenoids. Herein, we used Cream of Saskatchewan (pale yellow flesh) and PI 186490 (white flesh) as parental materials for an F2 segregation and initial mapping using the ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Fruit production from Opuntia ficus-indica ecotypes in comparison to commercial Italian clones [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fruit production, as an elementary chemical characteristic of the fruit, was evaluated in 16 Opuntia ficus-indica Portuguese ecotypes cultivated in a marginal soil without tillage, in the second and third years after plantation. The O.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
