Mapping and predicting a candidate gene for flesh color in watermelon

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2021
The color of watermelon flesh is an important trait determined by a series of carotenoids. Herein, we used Cream of Saskatchewan (pale yellow flesh) and PI 186490 (white flesh) as parental materials for an F2 segregation and initial mapping using the ...

Enzymes Activities Analysis Involved in AsA-GSH Cycle of Yellow-flesh Kiwifruit Genotypes

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
In order to investigate the activity of AsA-GSH cycle related enzymes in yellow flesh kiwifruits, we studied the five kinds of yellow flesh kiwifruits and measured their related enzymes activities by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. The result showed that ‘

Macroscale multimodal imaging reveals ancient painting production technology and the vogue in Greco-Roman Egypt. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Macroscale multimodal chemical imaging combining hyperspectral diffuse reflectance (400-2500 nm), luminescence (400-1000 nm), and X-ray fluorescence (XRF, 2 to 25 keV) data, is uniquely equipped for noninvasive characterization of heterogeneous complex ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
