microRNAs (miRNAs) function as oncogenes or tumor suppressors in human cancers by targeting mRNAs for degradation and/or translational repression. miR‐497 has been proposed as a tumor suppressive miRNA and its deregulation is observed in human cancers ...

Evaluating the role of the Hippo pathway in the onset and disease progression of the SOD1 mouse model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis [PDF]
The Hippo pathway is a cell signaling pathway involved in organ size regulation and tumorigenesis in mammals. This pathway regulates the activity of Yes-associated protein (YAP), a transcriptional coactivator which binds to the transcription factor TEAD ...

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Cucurbitacin E inhibits the Yes‑associated protein signaling pathway and suppresses brain metastasis of human non‑small cell lung cancer in a murine model. [PDF]
Human non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is associated with an extremely poor prognosis especially for the 40% of patients who develop brain metastasis, and few treatment strategies exist.

Staging the tumor and staging the host: A two centre, two country comparison of systemic inflammatory responses of patients undergoing resection of primary operable colorectal cancer [PDF]
Background: How systemic inflammation-based prognostic scores such as the modified Glasgow Prognostic Score (mGPS) and neutrophil:lymphocyte ratio (NLR) differ across populations of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unknown.

RNA-binding protein QKI regulates contact inhibition via Yes-associate protein in ccRCC [PDF]
Contact inhibition adjusts organ size to the proper size and ensures the cultured cells growing to a monolayer. By regulating the downstream coordinator YAP, the evolutionarily conserved Hippo transduction pathway attunes cell growth and death in response to cell contact inhibition, polarity, self-renewal, and differentiation.

ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Trop2 and its overexpression in cancers: regulation and clinical/therapeutic implications. [PDF]
Trop2 is a transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the Tacstd2 gene. It is an intracellular calcium signal transducer that is differentially expressed in many cancers. It signals cells for self-renewal, proliferation, invasion, and survival.
