Antimicrobial‐Resistant Bacteria in Environmental Samples From a Rural District Focused on Large‐Scale Agricultural Production

open access: yesTropical Medicine &International Health, Volume 30, Issue 12, Page 1269-1282, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Antimicrobial resistance is a growing concern, especially in regions with intense agricultural production. This study investigates the presence of antimicrobial‐resistant bacteria in Caramuru, Espírito Santo state, a rural district focused on large‐scale agricultural production in Brazil. Samples of water, soil, animal faeces and environmental

Efficacy of Essential Oil of Algrizea minor Sobral, Faria & Proença (Myrtaceae) in Combating Methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus: Antibacterial and Virulence Modulation Studies Conducted In Vitro and In Vivo

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 22, Issue 11, November 2025.
This study explored the antibacterial, antivirulence, and in vivo effects of Algrizea minor essential oil (EOAM), against MRSA isolates. Chemical analysis by GC‐MS has been performed. The oil exhibited synergistic effects when combined with amoxicillin and oxacillin, inhibiting biofilm formation and reducing S. aureus‐induced hemolysis.

Backbone switch to abacavir/lamivudine fixed-dose combination: implications for antiretroviral therapy optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Current guidelines recommend treatment optimization in virologically suppressed patients through switching/ simplification strategies to minimize long-term toxicities and improve adherence. The assessment of inflammation/ coagulation profiles may support

Sequential emergence and clinical implications of viral mutants with K70E and K65R mutation in reverse transcriptase during prolonged tenofovir monotherapy in rhesus macaques with chronic RT-SHIV infection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
BackgroundWe reported previously on the emergence and clinical implications of simian immunodeficiency virus (SIVmac251) mutants with a K65R mutation in reverse transcriptase (RT), and the role of CD8+ cell-mediated immune responses in suppressing ...

Validação de método por cromatografia líquida de alta eficiência para determinação da lamivudina e zidovudina em comprimidos Validation of a high performace liquid chromatography method for the determina of lamivudine and zidovudine in tablets

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2007
An HPLC method was validated to assay lamivudine and zidovudine combined in tablets. The chromatographic separation was carried out using methanol and acetate buffer pH 6.5 (50:50 v/v) and a RP-18 column, as mobile and stationary phase, respectively. The

Switching to second-line antiretroviral therapy in resource-limited settings: comparison of programmes with and without viral load monitoring. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In high-income countries, viral load is routinely measured to detect failure of antiretroviral therapy (ART) and guide switching to second-line ART. Viral load monitoring is not generally available in resource-limited settings. We examined switching from

Incidence and risk factors of anaemia among people on antiretroviral therapy in Harare

open access: yesSouthern African Journal of HIV Medicine
Background: Anaemia is associated with reduced quality of life and increased mortality risk among people living with HIV (PLHIV). Although antiretroviral therapy (ART) reduces the prevalence of anaemia, some patients remain at risk after commencing ART.
