Probiotic B.p colonization elevated gut‐derived inosine level in the liver, while elevated inosine activated A2AR and subsequently blocked NPs‐induced polarization of M1 macrophages by repressing the miR155/SOCS1/NF‐κB pathway. This reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines and thereby, mitigated NPs‐induced hepatic injury.

Quantification of Zonula Occludens-1 mRNA expression in cultured bovine retinal endothelial cells, using SYBR green real-time PCR [PDF]
A simple and rapid real-time reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) technique using SYBR green fluorescence was developed to quantify Zonula Occludens-1 (ZO-1) mRNA expression in histamine-treated cultured bovine retinal microvessel endothelial cells.

Tight junction proteins in glial tumors development and progression
Tight junctions form a paracellular barrier in epithelial and endothelial cells, and they regulate the diffusion of fluids, molecules, and the penetration of cells across tissue compartments.

A thiol‐modified alginate hydrogel microsphere‐encapsulated enzyme‐probiotic biohybrid (AKK‐COD) system has been developed to address the spatiotemporal delivery and colonization challenges of small intestine‐targeted probiotic for lipid metabolism regulation. The system exerts sequential functions of intragastric protection, small intestinal adhesion,

Zonula occludens protein 1 (ZO-1) is a ubiquitous scaffolding protein, but it is unknown why it functions in very different cellular contacts. We hypothesized that a specific segment, the unique hinge region, can be bound by very different regulatory ...

Microplastics (MPs) breach the gut‐brain axis by triggering taurine‐depleting microbiota dysbiosis that accelerates Alzheimer‐like pathology in 5XFAD mice. Taurine supplementation normalizes autophagy, microglial quiescence, and cognition, and plasma taurine inversely tracks cognitive decline in ADNI participants, revealing a readily translatable ...

An orally administered prebiotic polysaccharide hydrogel (predaGel) based on inulin and alginate‐dopamine is stable in the stomach, adheres to the intestine, and degrades slowly in the colon. It enables site‐specific delivery of anti‐TNF‐α and anti‐IL‐12/23 antibodies, scavenges reactive oxygen species, and remodels gut microbiota, offering effective ...

Hemodynamic regulation of occludin and ZO-1: effect on barrier function [PDF]
The vascular endothelium constitutes a highly effective fluid and solute barrier through the regulated apposition of tight junction protein complexes between adjacent endothelial cells.

Age‐related macular degeneration (AMD) involves lipid dysregulation and complement overactivation. Here, we characterize a double‐knockout ApoE−/−/Cfh−/− mouse as a model of early–intermediate retinal degeneration. These mice exhibit retinal pigment epithelium thinning, Bruch's membrane thickening, lipid accumulation, enhanced C5b‐9 deposition ...
