Myelination and Remyelination in Peripheral Nerve Injury: Mechanisms, Regulation, and Therapeutic Perspectives

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Peripheral nerve injury triggers axonal degeneration, myelin breakdown, and Schwann cell reprogramming. Remyelination requires reactivation of the SOX10–OCT6–KROX20/EGR2 transcriptional hierarchy, axonal NRG1–ErbB2/3 signaling, metabolic support, and coordinated immune regulation.

NKT Cell Responses to B Cell Lymphoma

open access: yesMedical Sciences, 2014
Natural killer T (NKT) cells are a unique subset of CD1d-restricted T lymphocytes that express characteristics of both T cells and natural killer cells.

Activation of human invariant natural killer T cells with a thioglycoside analogue of α-galactosylceramide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Activation of CD1d-restricted invariant NKT (iNKT) cells with the glycolipid α-galactosylceramide (α-GalCer) confers protection against disease in murine models, however, clinical trials in humans have had limited impact.

Using Synthetic Glycans to Investigate Anti‐Glycan Antibodies and Explore Their Medical Potential

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 39, 21 September 2026.
Anti‐glycan antibodies are essential in health and disease. Access to novel glycan structures paves the way for progress in antibody profiling for biomarker discovery, antibody development, and vaccine design. We summarize the strategies to synthesize and utilize synthetic glycans for the development and application of anti‐glycan antibodies in basic ...

Programmable Antigen‐Specific Immunity via Self‐Adjuvanting Nanovaccines Co‐Delivering Immune Modulators

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 11, 9 March 2026.
The self‐adjuvanting vaccine—comprising a covalent conjugate of antigen and adjuvant—was formulated into cationic lipid nanoparticles smaller than 100 nm to facilitate uptake by immune cells, with supplemental adjuvants incorporated to modulate immune responses.

Targeting the intratumoral microbiota to overcome cancer immunotherapy resistance

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, Volume 4, Issue 5, September 2026.
This review delineates the mechanisms of intratumoral microbiota in cancer immunotherapy resistance, and offers strategies for microbiota‐targeted precision immunotherapy. Abstract Cancer remains a significant global health threat. The tumor microenvironment (TME) is a sophisticated ecological niche that exerts a pivotal effect on treatment outcomes ...

NKT TCR Recognition of CD1d-α-C-Galactosylceramide

open access: yes, 2011
NKT cells respond to a variety of CD1d-restricted glycolipid Ags that are structurally related to the prototypic Ag α-galactosylceramide (α-GalCer). A modified analog of α-GalCer with a carbon-based glycosidic linkage (α-C-GalCer) has generated great ...

Invariant Natural Killer T Cells Play a Role in Chemotaxis, Complement Activation and Mucus Production in a Mouse Model of Airway Hyperreactivity and Inflammation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
CD1d-restricted invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells play a critical role in the induction of airway hyperreactivity (AHR). After intranasal alpha-galactosylceramide (α-GalCer) administration, bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) proteins from mouse ...

Cancer Vaccine Development: Toward Artificial Intelligence‐Assisted Personalized Cell Membrane Nanovaccine

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 49, 1 September 2026.
Cancer nanovaccines have emerged as promising alternatives to conventional cancer vaccines, which have shown limited clinical efficacy. In particular, cell membrane nanoparticle‐based nanovaccines can offer high biocompatibility and immunogenicity while preserving tumor antigens, including antigen repertoires.
