The RNA‐ and DNA‐Binding Protein Y‐Box Binding Protein 1 (YB‐1) Regulates iNKT Cell Development
YB‐1 is essential for invariant NKT cell development, integrating TCR, co‐stimulatory, and IL‐15 signaling to control maturation, subset differentiation, and survival. Its loss at the double‐positive thymocyte stage causes ∼80% iNKT cell depletion, maturation arrest, impaired cytokine production, and increased apoptosis.

Nonclassical MHC‐I Molecules: Emerging Therapeutic Targets in Next‐Generation Immunotherapy
Immunotherapies dependent on classical MHC‐I molecules face significant challenges, including extreme polymorphism and frequent downregulation in pathological conditions. This review discusses how nonclassical MHC‐I molecules (HLA‐E, HLA‐F, HLA‐G, CD1, MR1) may potentially circumvent these limitations through restricted genetic diversity, stable ...

Uncovering Novel Mechanism of Immune Modulation of Invariant Natural Killer T Cells By Liposomal Α-Galactosylceramide [PDF]
Invariant Natural Killer T cells (iNK-T cells) are a powerful regulatory immune cell that can recruit both innate and adaptive immune cells. Unlike conventional T cells (CD4+ and CD8α+), they recognize glycolipid antigens via the MHC-class-I like ...

Beyond the Barrier: Epithelial Cells as Immune Sentinels in the Female Genital Tract
ABSTRACT Epithelial cells (ECs) of the female genital tract (FGT) serve as an essential barrier and the first line of defense against sexually transmitted pathogens. Beyond providing a physical barrier, these cells actively contribute to immune responses through pathogen recognition, cytokine release, and modulation of adaptive immune responses ...

Summary: Doxorubicin (DOX)-induced cardiomyopathy has poor prognosis, and myocardial inflammation is intimately involved in its pathophysiology. The role of invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells has not been fully determined in this disease.

Mixed Signals: T Cells as Architects of IgE Immunity
ABSTRACT Food allergen‐specific IgE can cause significant pathology, yet the pathways that generate pathogenic, high‐affinity IgE remain incompletely understood. Increasing evidence suggests that IgE responses arise from the integration of multiple, and sometimes opposing, T cell–derived cues.

This graphical abstract illustrates the gut microenvironment disparities between breastfed and formula‐fed infants at 6 months of age. Through multi‐omics analysis, breastfeeding was shown to establish a distinct ecological imprinting characterized by favorable microbial shifts and down‐regulated pro‐inflammatory arachidonic acid metabolism, thereby ...

Glycolipid α-C-galactosylceramide is a distinct inducer of dendritic cell function during innate and adaptive immune responses of mice [PDF]
α-Galactosylceramide (α-GalCer) is the prototype compound for studying the presentation of glycolipids on CD1d molecules to natural killer T (NKT) lymphocytes. A single i.v.

Type I natural killer T (NKT) cells have gained considerable interest in anticancer immune therapy over the last decade. This “innate-like” T lymphocyte subset has the unique ability to recognize foreign and self-derived glycolipid antigens in ...
