Epigallocatechin‐3‐Gallate Suppresses Glioma by Targeting Integrin αvβ3/FAK/ERK Signaling Axis and Matrix Metalloproteinases

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
EGCG suppresses glioma progression by targeting integrin αvβ3/FAK/ERK signaling and inhibiting MMP‐2/MMP‐9‐mediated ECM degradation, thereby blocking proliferation, migration, invasion, and promoting apoptosis. ABSTRACT Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate (EGCG), the most abundant and biologically active catechin in green tea, has been widely reported to ...

Redox‐responsive dual‐drug nanomedicine integrating cisplatin and trypsin for synergistic reversal of tumor chemoresistance

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel glutathione‐activatable prodrug nanomedicine (cRGD‐PEG‐PGlu‐NP (ssTrypsin & CDDP)) that co‐encapsulates cisplatin and a masked protease to combat cisplatin resistance. The dual‐drug system selectively targets resistant tumor cells, enhancing the efficacy of cisplatin while minimizing systemic toxicity.

Exploiting Integrin-αVβ3 to Enhance Radiotherapy Efficacy in Medulloblastoma via Ferroptosis

open access: yesCurrent Oncology
Medulloblastoma, a malignant pediatric brain tumor, has a poor prognosis upon relapse, highlighting a critical clinical need. Our previous research linked medulloblastoma cell radioresistance to integrin-αvβ3 expression.

Combination of RGD compound and low-dose paclitaxel induces apoptosis in human glioblastoma cells.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BackgroundIntegrins are a family of transmembrane adhesion proteins that mediate cell adhesion and intracellular signaling. Integrin-αvβ3 is expressed on the surface of human glioblastoma cells, and can be further induced by chemical stress.

Extracellular matrix and proteolysis: mechanisms driving irreversible changes and shaping cell behavior

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Irreversible ECM proteolysis by remodeling enzymes shapes development, homeostasis, and disease. ECM‐degrading proteases display cell specificity and are governed by shared mechanisms, exhibiting functional redundancy in generating matrikines, growth factors, and cytokines.

Conformation-dependent binding of a Tetrastatin peptide to αvβ3 integrin decreases melanoma progression through FAK/PI3K/Akt pathway inhibition

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Tetrastatin, a 230 amino acid sequence from collagen IV, was previously demonstrated to inhibit melanoma progression. In the present paper, we identified the minimal active sequence (QKISRCQVCVKYS: QS-13) that reproduced the anti-tumor effects of whole ...

A guide to the types, structures, and multifaceted functions of matrix metalloproteinases in cancer

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) orchestrate cancer progression and metastasis through proteolytic and non‐proteolytic actions. By remodeling the tumor microenvironment, enhancing growth factor availability, and modulating cell behavior, MMPs promote proliferation, migration or invasion, and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition. Alongside extracellular
