SIRT4 positively regulates autophagy via ULK1, but independently of HDAC6 and OPA1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells expressing SIRT4 (H161Y), a catalytically inactive mutant of the sirtuin SIRT4, fail to upregulate LC3B‐II and exhibit a reduced autophagic flux under stress conditions. Interestingly, SIRT4(H161Y) promotes phosphorylation of ULK1 at S638 and S758 that are associated with inhibition of autophagy initiation.

MOESM2 of JMJD2C promotes colorectal cancer metastasis via regulating histone methylation of MALAT1 promoter and enhancing β-catenin signaling pathway

open access: yes, 2019
Additional file 2: Figure S2. JMJD2C promoted the proliferation of CRC HCT116 cells, but affected little on the apoptosis of the indicated cells. a MTT assay of HCT116 cells transfected with shRNA/NT, shRNA/JMJD2C, empty vector, or JMJD2C overexpression vector, respectively.

WNT/β-Catenin Signaling Pathway Regulating T Cell-Inflammation in the Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2019
Immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors has greatly prolonged the overall survival of cancer patients in melanoma and many other cancer types. However, only a subset of patients shows clinical responses from these interventions, which was predicated by ...

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Crosstalk between Wnt/β-Catenin and NF-κB Signaling Pathway during Inflammation

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2016
Besides its important role in embryonic development and homeostatic self-renewal in adult tissues, Wnt/β-catenin signaling exerts both anti-inflammatory and proinflammatory functions. This is, at least partially, due to either repressing or enhancing the

A PROTAC peptide induces durable β-catenin degradation and suppresses Wnt-dependent intestinal cancer

open access: yesCell Discovery, 2020
Aberrant activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling has been associated with the onset and progression of many types of tumors and thus β-catenin represents one attractive intracellular target for cancer therapy.

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Nuclear Regulation of Wnt/β-Catenin Signaling: It’s a Complex Situation

open access: yesGenes, 2020
Wnt signaling is an evolutionarily conserved metazoan cell communication pathway required for proper animal development. Of the myriad of signaling events that have been ascribed to cellular activation by Wnt ligands, the canonical Wnt/β-catenin pathway ...
