Effect of Phenylacetic Acid Addition on Productivity of Penicillium chrysogenum in Penicillin G Production Using Pilot Scale Reactor [PDF]
Effect of penicillin’s precursor addition, phenylacetic acid (PAA), was done by addition of PAA in several concentrations in a pilot scale reactor batch culture to produce penicillin G with fungi Penicillium chrysogenum.

Traditional dosing strategies often rely on a “one‐size‐fits‐all” paradigm, assuming an “average” patient with typical demographic and pharmacological characteristics. In reality, this often overlooks existing between‐patient variability and can lead to suboptimal drug exposure or toxicity. This issue is especially pronounced in pediatric patients, who

Abstract This narrative review celebrates Europe's contribution to the current knowledge on systemically administered antimicrobials in periodontal treatment. Periodontitis is the most frequent chronic noncommunicable human disease. It is caused by dysbiotic bacterial biofilms and is commonly treated with subgingival instrumentation.

Measurement of interaction parameters between glutathione and β-lactam antibiotics : a polarographic approach [PDF]
The interaction of glutathione with four β-lactam antibiotics was studied by an AC polarographic procedure. The interaction stability constant and the coordination number were calculated from the AC polarographic data.

A validated RP‐HPLC–UV method was successfully applied for amoxicillin determination in gummy tablets. The method is useful for an accurate amoxicillin content determination in paediatric gummies and was applied to study the stability profile of the drug, evaluated over 6 months under storage conditions.

Structural shifts in TolC facilitate Efflux-Mediated β-lactam resistance
Efflux-mediated β-lactam resistance is a major public health concern, reducing the effectiveness of β-lactam antibiotics against many bacteria. Structural analyses show the efflux protein TolC in Gram-negative bacteria acts as a channel for antibiotics ...

The synthesis and structural characterisation of novel 4- and 5- membered nitrogen heterocycles derived from azoacetates [PDF]
Azo-drugs are among the earliest fully synthetic chemotherapeutic agents known (Prontosil 1935). However the synthesis and application of phenylazo compounds in the area of medicinal chemistry has largely been restricted to derivatives of primary ...

Multiple Roles of Cu(II) in Catalyzing Hydrolysis and Oxidation of β‑Lactam Antibiotics
The widely used β-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins and cephalosporins are known to be susceptible to CuII-catalyzed hydrolysis at their four-membered β-lactam ring.

Synthetic Lethality Reveals Mechanisms of
Most β-lactam antibiotics are ineffective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis due to the microbe’s innate resistance. The emergence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) strains has prompted interest to repurpose this class of ...
