Deferasirox Derivatives as Inhibitors of Kallikrein‐Related Peptidases Associated to Neurodegenerative Diseases

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 13, July 1, 2025.
Dysregulated proteolysis mediated by kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLKs) and iron overload are involved in the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. Deferasirox, an clinically‐approved iron chelator, and its newly synthesized derivatives have been identified as inhibitors of major central nervous system KLKs with low cytotoxicity and effective ...

Amphiphilic Fluoro‐Functionalized Cellulosic Materials: Synthesis, Characterization, and Organic Dye Adsorption Properties

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 20, May 28, 2025.
New amphiphilic fluoro‐functionalized cellulosic materials are being yielded through nucleophilic aromatic substitution. Covalent attachment of fluorinated moiety into biopolymers is being assured with full characterization. Fluoro‐functionalized materials are being incorporated in alginate beads to remove organic pollutants from wastewater ...

Expanding Synthesizable Space of Disubstituted 1,2,4-Oxadiazoles

open access: yesACS Combinatorial Science, 2016
One-pot synthesis of 3,5-disubstituted 1,2,4-oxadiazoles from carboxylic acids and nitriles was optimized to parallel chemistry. The method was validated on a 141 member library; the desired products were recovered with a high success rate and in moderate yields.

Systematic Review on 1,2,3‐Oxadiazoles, 1,2,4‐Oxadiazoles, and 1,2,5‐Oxadiazoles in the Antimycobacterial Drug Discovery

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 20, Issue 9, May 5, 2025.
The review focuses on relationships of oxadiazole derivative structures and their antimycobacterial activity including target structures in mycobacteria, in vitro or in vivo pharmacokinetic parameters, and toxicity. Apart from direct antimycobacterial activity, some 1,2,4‐oxadiazole derivatives can potentiate the antimycobacterial effect of ethionamide
