CpERF‐WRI1 Manipulates Ethylene Sensing by Regulating the Expression of CpERS1 and Fruit Ripening in Papaya

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 6, Page 3550-3569, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Ethylene plays a crucial role in fruit ripening and is perceived by specialised receptor proteins embedded in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. As an ethylene antagonist, 1‐methylcyclopropene (1‐MCP) binds to these receptors and delays papaya ripening, but improper use can cause ripening disorders.

Effect of Preharvest 1-MCP Treatment on the Flesh Firmness of ‘Rojo Brillante’ Persimmon

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2022
This study investigated the effect of preharvest 1-MCP treatment on maintaining ‘Rojo Brillante’ persimmon firmness. Early in the season, preharvest 1-MCP was applied 1, 7 and 10 days after ethephon treatment.

The effects of ethylene on sweetpotato storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) is an important food security crop in many parts of the developing world. Despite its economic value and growing contribution to nutrition and health in tropical and sub-tropical countries, sweetpotato has a ...

Polyamine treatments: an effective strategy to improve crop yield and fruit colour and to preserve quality of ‘Mollar de Elche’ pomegranate fruit during storage at chilling temperatures

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 7, Page 4101-4112, May 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Climate change in Spain is altering the optimal conditions for producing high‐quality ‘Mollar de Elche’ pomegranate fruit, due to reduced colour development in husk and arils. In addition, the pomegranate requires storage above 7–10 °C, depending on cultivar, to preserve its quality because it is susceptible to chilling injury (CI ...

Preparation, Shelf, and Eating Quality of Ready-to-Eat “Guichang” Kiwifruit: Regulation by Ethylene and 1-MCP

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
The acceptance of kiwifruit by consumers is significantly affected by its slow ripening and susceptibility to deterioration. Ready-to-eat “Guichang” kiwifruit and its preparation technology were studied by the regulation of ethylene and 1-MCP.

The MdERF17–MdbHLH149 Module Mediates Ethylene‐Induced Starch Degradation Through the Transcriptional Repression of α‐Amylase MdAMY1 in Apple

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 3141-3157, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The ripening of climacteric fruits is characterised by a sharp increase in ethylene production, coinciding with the conversion of starch into soluble sugars. However, the regulatory interplay between ethylene and starch degradation in apple remains largely unclear. Here, we report a negative correlation between starch accumulation and ethylene

Comparative Assessment of Postharvest Treatments for Extending Shelf Life of Two Banana Cultivars in Bangladesh

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, Volume 3, Issue 1, Page 59-68, March 2026.
Effect of different postharvest treatments on shelf life and quality of two banana cultivars (Amritasagar and Mehersagar) in Bangladesh. Among the evaluated treatments, potassium permanganate (KMnO4) in unperforated polythene packaging effectively delayed ripening, increased total sugars and total soluble solids, and significantly extended shelf life ...

The Effects of 1-Methylcyclopropene Treatment on the Fruit Quality of ‘Idared’ Apples during Storage and Transportation

open access: yesAgriculture, 2020
1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) is applied as an inhibitor of ethylene action, which is widely used in postharvest technology to prolong the shelf life of many fruits.

Longevity of torch ginger inflorescences with 1-methylcyclopropene and preservative solutions [PDF]

open access: yesActa Scientiarum. Agronomy, 2011
ABTRACT. This work aimed at the assessment of the influence of 1-MCP on ethrel action and on its association with preservative solutions on torch ginger. In the first experiment, the inflorescences were pre-treated with 1-MCP in sealed chambers at concentrations of 0, 1, 1.5, and 2.0 g m -3 , for 24 hours.
